We had a great time at the Michigan Christmas Tree Association Summer Conference!

It was wonderful connecting with fellow growers, sharing ideas, and learning about the latest innovations in tree production and agritourism. We always come home excited to bring new ideas back to RA Farms.

One of the questions we get asked the most is… “What do you do on the tree farm in the summer?”

So this summer, we’re going to share a little behind-the-scenes look at life here on the farm.

This week, we finished removing pinecones from our Fraser fir trees. We do this for two important reasons:

1. Aesthetics — Fraser fir cones naturally disintegrate in the fall, leaving behind brown spikes on the branches. Removing the cones helps keep the trees looking full, fresh, and beautiful.

2. Tree growth — We’d rather the trees spend their energy growing bigger and healthier for your family instead of producing seeds.

A lot of work happens long before Christmas season arrives, and every step helps us grow the best trees possible for you.

Spring is a season of growth at RA Farms.

One of our favorite sights is watching our Christmas trees come out of dormancy and burst into life with these beautiful bud breaks.

Behind every beautiful RA Farms Christmas tree is a lot of care.
Our drip irrigation system helps us nurture strong, healthy trees—so when the season comes, they’re ready for your home.
