On Thursday, June 11, the “Global Rhythms Futbol Fest” launches at the Nyack Farmers Market to promote a village-wide celebration of global sports and culture and shared public experiences. Futbol Fest takes place on July 5th from 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and features soccer-themed programming, family entertainment, line dancing, performances, and a food crawl. To welcome the spirit of the global world class competition to Nyack, Village of Nyack Mayor Joe Rand and Nyack Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bill Batson will join Kazbek Tambi, Director of Coaching for Orangeburg World Class FC Soccer Academy in a friendly skills challenge.
Kazbek Tambi is a former U.S. Olympic Team member, four-time Ivy League champion at Columbia University, and professional player with the New York Cosmos. A highly accomplished coach, he led the U.S. U-17 Women’s National Team to a World Cup silver medal and currently serves as Director of Coaching for World Class FC.
Global Rhythms Futbol Fest is sponsored Rockland County and I LOVE NY, and supported by the Nyack Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Visit Nyack, and the Village of Nyack, this day’s festivities will feature family-friendly activities, soccer demonstrations, games for children, music, cultural performances, dancing, and opportunities for visitors to explore Nyack’s internationally diverse restaurant scene.
