If it was safe they wouldn’t need immunity.

🚨MAHA, we need you to GET LOUD TODAY about amending the Farm Bill.

The House Rules Committee is deliberating on the bill right now.

They need to hear one clear message.

REMOVE Sections 10205, 10206, and 10207.

They shield pesticide companies from failure-to-warn lawsuits, strip states’ authority, weaken protections, and erase accountability when Americans are harmed.

MAHA supports Amendments 141, 29, and 301, led by Representatives Thomas Massie, Anna Paulina Luna, and Nancy Mace.

These are critical additions to strike these provisions and restore accountability.

Comment “FARM BILL” and we’ll send you a 60-second way to tell the Ways & Means to support Amendments 141, 29, and 301.

Use it now to tell the Rules Committee Americans do not support Sections 10205, 10206, and 10207.

America’s health is on the line.

Food Babe, Anna Paulina Luna, Alex Clark

Chickens + Grass

It's not complicated - in fact it's quite simple.

The chickens disturb and fertilize, then the rain and bugs transfer the nutrients to the topsoil. Next, the sun and rain do their part to grow grass and forages, while the pasture rests. Finally the cows close the loop by consuming the plants, and the cycle starts again.

With all of the brooders and pasture shelters full of broilers, its a race against summer to try and fill the freezers, before it's too hot to have broilers on pasture.

With our new air chiller and freezer project complete - we’re ready! If you’ve been waiting for pork and beef to restock, we’re picking up from the processor this week.

However, smoke from nearby wildfires has caused a dip in our laying hens production so egg limits and/or order minimums may return for a short time.

I imagine each of us has our own version of heaven on earth. This is mine.

When you see pasture raised on a carton of eggs, this is probably what you envision as the way a hen spends her days. But, those pasture raised eggs from Trader Schmoes, Vital Harms, or CostLows all come from hens who spend the majority of their lives in a barn - and even IF they do go outside there’s usually no grass within a thousand feet of the building.

You won't find any barn raised birds here. Nor will you find hens locked in their coops for days, weeks, or months on end due to whatever convenient excuse the company chooses that week (ie Avian Influenza, weather, veterinary recommendations, etc.)

The definition of pasture raised shouldn't be hard - its actually quite easy just flip the words around. Raised on pasture. To keep them on pasture means they also have to move - because they’ll scratch and peck themselves out of pasture (and bugs) really quickly.

Will you join us in telling the FDA & USDA to stop allowing eggs from hens raised in free-range “outdoor access” systems to be labeled as Pasture Raised? It takes less than 5 min to leave your comment and support our petition.

Despite drought and nearly ZERO rain for the past 8 months it’s amazing watching how regenerative farming defies logic.

Industrial agriculture has conditioned us to think that only rain or irrigation can grow crops or grass. The reason for this logic is because industrial agriculture is essentially hydroponics. They treat their land as a sterile medium which they add NPK (chemical fertilizers) in the right amounts, plant and water. If there is no NPK or water you have crop failure. Simple right?

The truth is, this is a failed system that may “feed the world” through is tonnage but paradoxically starves it of actual nutrients at the same time!

Our farm sits on Florida interior highland which is essentially sand with a tiny amount of loam. We call it farming a beach 🏖️ . However, here we are, with virtually no rain and our planted winter annuals are growing?

Each year, we plant winter annuals and each year it becomes less and less dependent on rain to germinate and grow. This is tremendous progress in my mind on the goals we set out to accomplish nearly 16 years ago to create productive land independent of the need of inputs.

We still are a ways off of that goal but it is encouraging to see progress from year to year! We couldn’t do this without all of the help of our loyal patrons who keep the lights on by supporting our family farm! 🫶

What do real “pasture-raised” eggs look like?

Our hens lay their eggs in mobile coops on diverse native pastures, not in giant stationary CAFO barns like the supermarket egg brands. Animals thriving in real ecosystems - not existing in a building surrounded by nothing but dirt. The difference is simple - real rooted pastures, rotated often, and not just “access” to grass thousands of feet away.

We think that’s dishonest marketing fueled by corporate greed; but the loophole is that it’s perfectly legal because the FDA doesn’t have any actual rules or regulations on labeling eggs “pasture-raised”.

To combat this greenwashing, we’re asking our customers to join us in asking the FDA to adopt the existing USDA standards for pasture raised meat, closing the regulatory egg label gap.

You can read all about the FDA petition and how easy it is to submit your comment at apppa.org, and if you want some quick samples or talking points to submit, drop us a DM.

I’m convinced that the winter chickens are the happiest chickens here in Florida.

While the laying hens are happy just about anytime except a hurricane, their meat production counterparts really thrive in the temperate, mild Florida winters, making them the quintessential “snow birds”.

Raised on diverse winter annual pastures of rye, oat and barley grasses, mixed with broad leaf brassicas like kale, radish and turnips makes for some of the most productive forage available, and did we mention how lovely it is to have vibrant green pastures when it seems like most of the surrounding fields are brown and lifeless.

Yet even in our own fallow fields that were not planted, there is life below the surface. Decaying organic root matter from the summer growth cycles and pulsing of nutrient cycles, the fallow pig areas resting from the often too vigorous rooting activities, and even in the proverbial murder paddocks where the cows spend a little extra time these days as the winter annuals can’t handle the traffic and regrowth like the perennial grasses. They are adding life to the fields by trampling in hay and manure and other nutrients just by their disturbance.

It’s a song, and each song has rhythm. A verse, a chorus, another verse, maybe a bridge and maybe a little more of each if it’s a long one. We’re here for the long songs, the extended remix versions of American Pie or November Rain if you’re old enough to know, or interested enough to look it up. ;)
