North Whidbey Island Gleaners We are all about gleaning on north Whidbey Island. Do your fruit trees and berry bushes produce more than you can use? Did you have a bountiful harvest?

Gleaning is the process of collecting food, traditionally crops left in a field left after harvest and today also surplus foods from various sources like farms, farmers' markets, and grocery stores. Reach out to us, and we will glean, so this fresh food is saved and used. We only come by invitation, at your specified time, and in groups of 2-4 people. We bring our own containers. Hi Folks, North Whidbey Island Gleaners https://www.facebook.com/groups/northwhidbeyislandgleanersgroup gleaned a lot today! Only about 5 or 6 of us saved about 200 # of Italian plums, 30 # of pears, and 30 # of pear-apples from 3 households in Oak Harbor (our donating heroes!). We need more gleaners! join us!
Free Italian plums, pears, pear-apples, & oregano now are waiting for you who would like some of this bounty at the Oak Harbor Community Distribution area (i.e., the 'covered porch' to the left of the door for Tossin' Axes at the Log Cabin building 390 NE Midway Blvd. ,OH. ) Please take what you need, bring your own bags, and spread the word that more is there.
We of Whidbey Island are so very lucky to have this wonderful nutritious fruit available for free, thanks to donators who are contacting us because they do not want to see it go to waste. We are heading to glean at two place today. Just want to remind folks that this is a North Whidbey community endeavor that everyone can share in. The leftovers from today will be at our "community Distribution Center" on the 'porch' of Tossin' Axes at 390 NE Midway Blvd, Oak Harbor. Please bring your own bags and help yourself to what you need. there are no requirements or sign ins or anything. This is the way to network food abundance in our community.
