Bloom's Kosher Carryout and Catering

Bloom's Kosher Carryout and Catering Catering since 1952, Bloom's is one of the finest Kosher and carryout operations in Metro Detroit! They began their business on Dexter and Davison.

In 1952, Lil and Harry Bloom opened what was to become one of the finest Kosher catering companies in metro Detroit. Shortly after that they moved to the Labor Zionist building and were know as Mayfair Kosher Catering. Over the past 64 years they have catered parties, weddings, Bar mitzvahs, etc… as well as offering carryout service. They have been exclusive caterers in numerous synagogues through

out the area. Their children, Shirlee and Harvey Bloom, were in business with them in the catering and they worked together until Harry passed away in 1958 and Lil in 1976. Shirlee continued in the business with her daughter Cookie and the two of them carry on the fine Bloom name and reputation.

Dear Family and Friends,

We are reaching out with heavy hearts, as our beloved Cookie’s husband Bart has yet again experienced an unimaginable tragedy—
his home was lost Wednesday night in a fire.
While Bart was not home and is physically okay, all three of his beloved pets were killed in the fire. Moose was a brown lab and was Bart’s best friend. Moose truly helped Bart get through the loss of his beloved wife Cookie (Hope), who suddenly and unexpectedly passed earlier this year in April, the day before their eldest daughter Cortney’s birthday. Bart had two cats, Little Man who was a stray tabby and Dunkin who was a tuxedo who was also a stray that Bart and Cookie and Taylor took in many years ago. Bart’s dedication to his fur babies is a testament to the kind of person that he is. Bart is the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off of his back, but unfortunately he now has no shirts to give since he has lost everything. With that being said, we are asking for your help.

In an instant, everything Bart and Cookie worked for and cherished is now gone, leaving Bart without a roof over his head, and no place to call home. He has lost everything. This house on Hart Street is so much more than a home.
For 30 years, this home was the life of Hart Street. This home was a second home to so many throughout the years, and associated with such heartfelt memories for all who spent time there. Just a week ago was Bart and Cookie’s 37th anniversary; this was Bart’s first anniversary alone. And to be honest, he was in pretty good spirits given the circumstances and now this happened.

This devastation has shaken us to our core. But we are not giving up. The Chimoff’s have done so much for our community, so right now, we need to pull together our community behind Bart to show him the love and support that we have for him. With the assistance of our loved ones, our community, and the kindness of strangers, we are determined to help Bart rebuild his life. The funds we raise will go directly toward helping Bart get back on his feet. He has lost everything in the fire, including his pets. The man just can’t seem to catch a break, so let’s help him try to catch one. If you are interested in directly supporting Bart, there is a go fund me account for him and if you would just like to reach out, you can contact Taylor on the Blooms line or message through fb messenger about further information.

Thank you all for the love and support

I am saddened to announce that Blooms Kosher Catering and Carryout will be closing after the holiday.

After a lot of thought and as hard as this is to come to terms with, it is the best decision for my family and I for the time being.
It has been an honor working in the family business, that has been around for 4 generations. I will forever cherish all the memories.
It’s only fair that we take the time we need to not only grieve the loss of our own Cookie Bloom, but to focus on ourselves and our family.

We want to thank each and everyone of you for the love and support throughout the years as our loyal customers and we could not have done it without you. It has been our pleasure to serve our community and we hope to continue to do so in the near future.

My great grandparents Lil and Harry Bloom and my grandma Shirlee and my mother Cookie and now I, Taylor are so grateful for all the wonderful years we were in business and how close we became with each and every one of you.

This doesn’t mean goodbye, it means see you later as I start a new chapter in my life.

Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions, comments, concerns or just to say hi.

As for Rosh Hashanah, please refer to our menu posted below and on Community Links.
Please have your order in by Friday,

We are saddened to announce the loss of our own Cookie Bloom. She was very well loved in this community and she loved what she did which was running the family business after her mother Shirlee and her grandparents Lil and Harry Bloom. Her daughter Taylor, the 4th generation who has been helping her run the business will now takeover in their footsteps.

We are sorry to announce that Bloom’s will be closed this week to let the family grieve and sit shiva. We hope that you all understand and we will still be opened for Passover,

Thank you.
