My sweet bird bread friends. I woke up knowing that today was the end of an era.
I’ve been on a bread sabbatical and thought long and hard about what my relationship with baking was going to look like for the next year.
After six truly amazing years I’ve decided that it’s time for Sweetbird Kitchen to stop baking bread.
As with everything else in my life, I’m really good at knowing when it’s time. Time to start and time to stop. There is no specific thing I can point to and say “this, this is the reason” other than….. it’s time.
What I can point to and say with sincere specificity is that you changed my life. You. Your kindness. Every person I’ve had the literal privilege to gift to. Every person who picked up a loaf of bread, a box of bagels, pizza dough or starter. Every person who lifted me out of a fog of overwhelm. Every person who loved on Angus and Star, then Penny. Every person who paid free bread forward. Every person who made bread part of their routine. Every person who picked up bread bearing gifts and smiles and pictures from their kids. Every person who donated food.
How cherished my memories are of this time and of all of you. With ever big-hearted love and affection, thank you, Sweetbirds, for being the bread revolution.
♥️🍞xoxo
