We are a group of home brewers in and around Oak Park, IL.

Oak Park Homebrewers is an organization comprised of like-minded individuals dedicated to the art of homebrewing and the advancement of craft beer. OPHB will provide members and non-members alike the opportunity to learn and share knowledge about homebrewing and the enjoyment of well crafted beer. The Club and its members will promote the quality, bold character and fun in beer, along with promoting responsible drinking.

Congrats to OPHBers, Mike Young and Ryan Shupe, for taking home bronze and silver medals, respectively, from the 2025 Brewers of South Suburbia Charlie Orr Memorial Chicago Cup Challenge on Saturday! Mike for his “Ty Cobb Georgia Peach” fruited sour and Ryan for his “Mild ‘n Out” dark mild. Well done brewers! 🎉🍻

Another successful Big Brew Day this past Saturday! For those that missed it, we brewed a Schwarzbier, ate BBQ, watched Formula 1, and enjoyed great conversation on what turned out to be a great Spring day for the event! Really looking forward to seeing how this beer turns out in a few weeks 🍻

Congratulations to all the winners at the 27th Annual Drunk Monk Challenge yesterday, but an especially big congrats to OPHB’s own, Ryan Shupe, who took home a silver medal for his Oatmeal Stout, Thing Under the Mountain! 🍻

Another OPHB Holiday Party is in the books! It was great to see everyone showing off their holiday spirit over delicious food and drinks. Truly a perfect close to an action packed year for the club. See you all in 2025!

Huge congrats to OPHB members Bob Parks and Ryan Shupe for their accomplishments at this year’s Brixtoberfest home brew competition!! Bob won first place for his “ESB” Strong Bitter and Ryan won first place for his “Light ‘em Up!” Jalapeño Cream Ale. Ryan also took home third Best in Show with the same beer. This year’s competition drew 226 entries from 66 brewers from around the country, so certainly a great showing from these OPHB brewers. Congrats to you both! 🎉🍻

Big thank you to One Lake Brewing for hosting us for brew day on this year’s “Been Czar, Done That” Imperial Stout and for the excellent brewery tour! We really enjoyed the peek behind the curtain!

Fantastic time at CHAO’s BrewBQ homebrew street fest on Saturday. Oak Park Homebrewers took home a medal in the Blue Lake Hops challenge for the second year in a row, this year with a Silver medal for Jeff & Will’s “3rd Coast” Pale Ale! Will also went home with a brand new all-in-one Grainfather electric brew system, which is sure to be turning out some excellent beers soon! Congrats gents!! Thank you to everyone who brewed for the event and for everyone who came out and tried our beers (and those of the many other fine brew clubs in attendance). And of course a big shout out and thank you to C.H.A.O.S. Brew Club for putting on another excellent BrewBQ. Already anxiously awaiting next year!
