Agronomy is the science and technology of making foods out of plants. A scientist and an Engineer, Corey and Marissa O’Connor have spent most the past 15 years working for others. Their dream of opening a farm and vineyard is the result of their interest in science and technology but is also fueled by their desire to abandon the “cube” and corporate life and take a more hands on approach to what i

t means to work. The idea came about as a result of their desire to make quality craft goods on their own property and to create a place where people could have an experience bringing nature, friends, and high quality handcrafted goods together. Agronomy Farm Vineyard was established as an idea on their honeymoon in 2011 in Tahiti although it would not come to fruition until they purchased the property in Oakham in 2013. The 1.65 acre vineyard was planted in May of 2014 with half of the vines a red varietal, Marquette and the other half, a white called Cayuga. After establishing the vineyard, the couple is moving forward with winery design and plans to open a small tasting room on site sometime in 2016. Having a full commercial maple syrup production facility aligned perfectly to the vision of the Agronomy Farm Vineyard and the couple quickly began making 100% pure maple syrup from the almost 33 acres of forest on the property in early 2014. The second vintage is released for sale starting in the spring of 2015. Each gallon of our maple syrup is created by distilling 40 gallons of sap collected from the Agronomy Farm property's sugar maples early each spring. Had the most BEAUTIFUL weather yet for our annual wine pairing dinner with the BEST , Jesse , on Saturday night. Thanks again to all who attended. It’s so wonderful seeing so many couples returning every year and also the new faces in the crowd. We’re so grateful. And thanks again to Jesse and his team for orchestrating an excellent 4 course dinner using the best local ingredients from farms we love including Lilac Hedge Farm LLC and Kimball Fruit Farm .
