La Befana is an epiphany tradition in Italy; it coincides with the feast of the Epiphany on January 6th every year across Italy. In the Bible tradition the feast is when the Three Wise Men arrive in Bethlehem bringing gifts for Baby Jesus.

However, in the popular tradition the wise men bring gifts to the baby with a witch like woman, the “befana.”
Therefore, Italian kids expect every January 6th to receive chocolate and candies in the hanging sock.

Happy National Lager Day! This day is always observed on December 10 annually.

Lager beers are fermented and conditioned at low temperature while ale beers are brewed at warm fermentation. In the beginning, warm fermentation was the only known method of making beers, so all beers were ales. Lager beer were first made in Bavaria during the 16th century; they were brought to America from Europe around 1840.

Now, pale lager is the most widely consumed style of beer in the world.
