Manicaretti

Manicaretti Manicaretti (the Italian word for little delicacies or treats) is an importer and wholesaler of fine Italian foods to retailers and restaurants.

Founded by AUTENTICO author Rolando Beramendi in 1988. When I moved to San Francisco, it was difficult to find high quality Italian food products in the United States. I knew the taste of genuine Italian foods and wanted Americans to have the same wonderful flavors of Italy. In 1988, I founded Manicaretti (the Italian word for little delicacies or treats) to bring products from Italy's finest regi

onal artisan producers to this country. The regional products were found through family, friends and word of mouth. Whether cooking with a family on their farm or helping friends with the work in their small factory, I felt as if I were rediscovering these little gems and helping to keep centuries-old traditions alive. When I think of Italy, I think of fantastic meals at my grandmother's dinner table where the food and wine created a sense of sharing at the table. Over the past years, we have selected an array of basic pantry products which can help you prepare a truly Italian meal. Manicaretti products let people travel into Italian culture and history by enjoying traditional artisan foods. We're turning strangers into friends across the table. That's my greatest pleasure.

The best part of a new harvest? Discovering where each oil really shines ✨

Here’s how we’ll be pouring each of our Sicilian EVOOs in the coming months:

Tonda Iblea - Tomatoes! Chopped, sliced, peeled, diced—salsas, salads, gazpacho, panzanella, pasta alla norma, and other tomato-forward recipe.

Nocellara - An elegant oil to finish grilled meats and veggies. Delicious drizzled over any seafood, such as swordfish or octopus.

- This ultra-fragrant oil is outstanding on greens of all kinds, avocado and, of course, Busiate alla Trapanese 🍝

- The ideal base for Sicilian classics like caponata and sarde a beccafico, or slow-simmered sauces and fish dishes.

Spring, plated at Zuni Café! Carnaroli risotto verde with morel mushrooms, English peas & mint 🌿

For over 30 years, Principato di Lucedio has set the standard for Italian rice—single-estate, harvest-dated, husked to order, and prized for its freshness, flavor, and consistency.

Chef de Cuisine of shared:
“We keep coming back to Principato di Lucedio Carnaroli because it’s so consistent. The grains are large and hold their shape. You get that ideal al dente center while still getting enough starch for the risotto to come together properly. The flavor is clean with a slight nuttiness and works across a range of preparations. It’s a very reliable, high-quality rice.”

The Olive Oil That Tastes Like Sunshine 🌞🍋

captures perfectly:
“Agrumato is balanced. Elegant. Integrated. The olives and citrus are crushed together at the same time, so what you get is a true extraction of both, the richness of high-quality extra virgin olive oil and the essential oils from the citrus zest. A small splash, and everything wakes up.”

Grazie mille Elizabeth, for the reminder that every dish could use some sunshine! Find spring recipe inspiration on the ’s Substack.

Crafted from the same four cultivars—rare Morisca, Hojiblanca, Picual & Arbequina—carefully grown, pressed, and bottled entirely on the Álvarez de Toledo family estate in Extremadura, Spain. First cultivated by the family in 1624 (!), the estate is now overseen by 13th-generation steward Fadrique Álvarez de Toledo.

Pistacchiosa was ahead of the trend, and is still setting the standard 👑

“Thanks to the rise of Dubai chocolate, pistachio spreads seem to be everywhere these days. But this one from Il Colle del Gusto, which launched in 2013—well ahead of the trend—is the best of them all. Made in Italy with Sicilian pistachios and extra virgin olive oil, it has a smooth texture and a beautiful, glossy sheen.”

Every bit as irresistible as beloved taralli, Tarallo Grattato is their signature handmade cracker crumbled into fine, golden crumbs. In Puglia, taralli crumbs have long been the delicious and resourceful alternative to plain breadcrumbs. Already crisp and full of flavor, they’re ready to use straight from their handy basket—no extra toasting or frying required!

We love sprinkling them over simple salads, creamy soups, and pasta dishes; topping casseroles, mac n’ cheese or potato gratin; and using them to bread chicken cutlets, fish fillets, and crab cakes (garnished with Sea Fennel) 🦀

Our honeys have a new look to match what’s inside - always cremoso, never crystallized 🍯🤍

Master beekeeper Giorgio Poeta has perfected an innovative new extraction method that limits the incorporation of air and prevents large sugar crystals from forming. The result? Honeys with a naturally ultra-creamy texture (N.B. these are NOT “creamed” honeys!).

Celebrate with a sweet spoonful. Buon Martedì Grasso a tutti! 🎭🎉
