It’s Mexican Independence Day and we are having a party! I’m teaming with Booli again from tonight to bring you a fire menu!
And that’s just the beginning! is hosting us along with .treats and ! It’s open to all ages, there will be face painting for the kids, tacos, aguas, chelas, tostadas, y más! And and will be providing the jams as we celebrate our beautiful culture and heritage together. The party is at 95 Linden street tonight, Friday, from 4pm to 8pm!

So many tomatoes! Yesterday was a beautiful day at the farmers market and it’s a highlight of my weekly routine. Every week, I go to the farmers market in search of the best produce Northern California has to offer. I feel so fortunate to share it with you all at .oakland ! It has been so much hard work over the past months but I’m thankful for all that I’ve been learning. I’m especially thankful to the front of house team I’ve been working with at our restaurant and bar project at .oakland . Huge gracias to Alex, Margarita, Alejandro, Silvia, Cory, Mary, Noel, and Hugo! Come see us for dinner at our new home, Thursday to Saturday, 5pm to 10pm. It’s all ages, and we have outdoor seating!

A few words on friendship and tortillas.
These are flour tortillas we serve at work. With my family being from Nuevo León, flour tortillas were a special treat to have at home. Usually, my Tia Juanita would make them thick and a little sweet. The tortillas at .oakland are special to me because my friend and his team make them. They are made with beef fat (tallow) from and the dry aged beef we get from that we serve at the restaurant, .oakland. We give that beef fat to Michael at and he makes us some of the most delicious tortillas I’ve had in a long time. I’m so thankful to have Michael as a friend because he’s such a nice human. Please, please, please, support your friends. Believe in your friends. Encourage your friends. I’m just so damn proud of him and I have so much respect for him. Thanks for being my friend. If you don’t know of follow them, I would highly encourage you to check them out if you know what’s good for your taste buds.
My goal over the next few weeks is to showcase all of our friends and our team that make the food at what it is today. Thanks for being part of this journey with us.

Play with your food. 😜 Recipe testing for the next menu. Early girl tomato salad from , queso fresco, smoked , cilantro, Olive Oil, Salsa Macha but make it green! My mom is the real inspiration for this one, honestly. When we were kids, she would make little skewers with queso fresco, tomatoes, and basil. And yes, I know it’s a play on a caprese salad, which happens to also be my favorite. 😘 Maybe you’ll see it on our late summer menu, maybe not.

Did you say tres leches? Come try Booli’s take on this corn flour tres cake at .oakland with the best strawberries in Northern California from . It’s delicious, and it’s even gluten free! It’s so rad to have a restaurant and have friends who are there for you when you need it most. That’s been Booli for me. They are super talented and I’m stoked to showcase some amazing eats from them on our menu. 🍓🌽🥳

Come learn about some Mezcales tradicionales with Rion Toal of Maestros del Mezcal. It will be a night of joy to learn about the purpose of the Organization back in Mexico.
