✨SPOTLIGHT: Emily Fernwood of OSA MAJOR **es … one of the 10 local, independent, low-intervention w**emakers joining us for HANGTIME! …. ✨ Emily Fernwood is a Berkeley-based w**emaker devoted to crafting classic, site-driven w**es under Osa Major W**es. Working with organically farmed vineyards across California, her approach emphasizes native fermentations, gentle handling, and little to no added sulfur, allowing the grapes and their origins to speak for themselves.

From her website: “A Bay Area native, Emily returned home after years of traveling and working harvests around the world—from California and Oregon to Australia and New Zealand—before founding Osa Major W**es in 2020. Today she is involved in every step of the process, while exploring both well-known and lesser-known vineyards across the state. Informed by traditional w**emaking methods and guided by the wide diversity of the state’s ancient geology and historic w**e regions, the w**es are joyful, fresh, and balanced—and unmistakably Californian”

“Kareen is the name of an ancient Armenian city located in present-day central eastern Turkey. Kareen is where our family is from. By naming our w**e Kareen we wanted to give this place & memory, a rebirth of sorts. While we are a modern day Armenian – Californian family and naturally all parts of this w**e come from the abundance of Californian terroir, we draw our inspiration from the memory of a land once ours. Kareen is a place, a dream and a muse wrapped up into one for us”.

HANGTIME will celebrate local w**emakers and over 30 low-intervention w**es. Additionally, some of the Bay Area’s best pop-ups will be on-site serving delicious bites. Come for the tastes and stay for the vibes. HANGTIME will be on Sunday, July 26th from 1-6pm in the backlot at Oakland Yard.

HANGTIME is a ticketed event, admission ticket covers ALL w**e tastings (30+ pours!). “Our logo is a set of pruning shears. They symbolize our craft, demonstrating our lifelong dedication to farming along with nature, to understanding and tending each vine by hand, and to coaxing beauty and flavor out of vines, sunlight and soil. W**emaking, for us, starts in the field: observing, listening, learning, and making decisions accordingly. We treat every vine individually, from the first spring pruning through the last season’s harvest.
