Coffee travels from far and wide and goes through many channels well before it arrives at our roastery. Almost all of the coffee delivered to our shop is freighted from Continental Terminals in NJ. Of course, it starts out much, much further from there but once it makes its’ journey from origin it arrives at the port in NJ. In the world of global shipping and logistics, especially for a product like coffee, there are hiccups along the way. It doesn’t happen often, we have amazing importers and partners we work with but when it does, you do something about it. Today, we had to make the trek to the terminal ourselves to get some green coffee. While it is a hassle, we had to close today, and will have a longer work day tomorrow we are thankful we are geographically located so close to the port. And honestly, it is an amazing site to see. Continental Terminals is a massive warehouse facility for green coffee and cocoa. It’s pretty cool to see rows upon rows of pallets stacked to the ceiling of green coffee that is distributed all over the US. The smell hits you as soon as you walk in, fresh green coffee, especially on a very hot day like today. Forklifts and pallets jacks zooming all around and our coffee was ready and waiting within minutes of arriving to be loaded into our truck . We are happy to have coffee and to be heading back to the shop. Just another day as a
