We are nearing the middle of our volunteer control window in the NW corner of the state.

Proposed volunteer control windows across Kansas aim to reduce wheat streak mosaic risk. These windows span the 30 days before the optimal winter wheat planting date in each region. 🌾⁠

Here are key considerations for successful wheat-free windows:⁠

🟡Terminate all volunteer wheat so it’s completely dead before your regional window begins.⁠

🟡Delay fall wheat planting until the end of the window, if possible.⁠

🟡Avoid planting other winter cereals (like rye or triticale) during this time, as they can carry curl mites.⁠

🟡A regional break in the green bridge helps curl mites die off before wheat planting.⁠

🟡Volunteer wheat emerging after the window is less concerning, as it aligns with winter wheat establishment.⁠

🟡Community-wide coordination is essential for success.⁠

We have not yet finalized our seed price for this year. We are continuing to offer our seed treating service.

We have an adequate supply of most varieties, but we do encourage you to place your order as soon as you know what you are wanting to drill this year.
