Rainbow Rise Family Farm

Rainbow Rise Family Farm We are a small family farm, growing as wide an array of fruits and vegetables as this land will produce.

We are hoping to build relationships with local restaurants and our local community. To contact our photographer for a session call Meghan at 802-338-0039

Summer fruits and vegetables are coming in thick- we're getting some solid yields but quantities are limited so hit us up before they're gone! We've got some beautiful corn- our best crop yet!- as well as some summer squash, some sweet and hot peppers (of varying intensity and I'll be honest I entirely lost track of what varieties are which bush so we're effectively rolling dice per pepper) and a small tomato harvest that should be the first of many. We'll also have elderberries that should be fully fruited here within a month or so. Beans should be coming along shortly as well, and the sweet potato slips we planted have established nicely; we're hoping for a strong harvest this autumn. But we don't take a day for granted out here. We're already making plans in the garden itself to expand the space, to grow- let's grow together!

Some more pictures of what we've got growing this season on the farm. We've been putting a lot of effort into trying to build our soil by using what we have available, from household compost to fire pit ash and horse manure. We got some more things we're going to work on- putting cut and dried grass around our vegetable and fruit plants, for example, to minimize bare dirt in the garden- but some of our efforts are starting to pay off. Corn, beans and squash are growing well, as are our peppers and tomatoes. This fall, we should have a decent harvest of sweet potatoes available. And here in maybe a month we should have heaps of elderberries- we might even make some syrup if folks are interested. In short, we're growing out here- let's grow together!

Farmer Ryan talks a lot about layering plants and trees for companion benefits: Here you can see the corn (and underneath it, squash), Elderberry trees next and then Bamboo in the back. We saw the first fruit of unripe peaches and nectarines back in the food forest this morning.

Corn is growing beautifully, and it's sister squash underneath is starting to fruit.
