His chair was empty Monday, with his M&M Cattle hat resting on it.

Like so many of you, we were saddened and shocked Sunday morning when the call came.

Mike McRae will be remembered around Ocala Stockyard for his contagious smile, his humor, and the kindness he always showed to those around him. He was one of those familiar faces we looked forward to seeing each week.

Please keep Mike’s family and friends in your prayers during the days ahead.

We’ll sure miss you every Monday, Mike. ❤️

Yes to Amendment 2!

Yes to Amendment 2!

The Florida Cattlemen’s Association supported and worked to advance Amendment 2, which would exempt qualifying tangible personal property used in agricultural production or agritourism from ad valorem taxation when it is habitually located or typically present on agriculturally classified land and owned by the landowner or leaseholder. For Florida farmers and ranchers, that can include qualifying equipment and tools used every day to produce the food and agricultural products our state depends on.

Amendment 2 is agriculture-specific and is separate from Amendment 3. Like all amendments to Florida’s Constitution, it requires at least 60% voter approval. If approved, Amendment 2 would first apply to tax years beginning January 1, 2027.

On November 3, Vote YES on Amendment 2 and support Florida agriculture.

More competition. Less unnecessary regulation. Strong food safety standards.

NCBA supports creating more opportunities for small, mid-size and regional beef processors—and eliminating unnecessary regulations that make it harder for those businesses to compete.

But weakening federal meat inspection and food safety standards is not the answer.

America’s cattle producers have spent generations earning consumer confidence in the safety and quality of U.S. beef. That trust is invaluable, and so is the gold standard food safety system that helps sustain it. Neither should be jeopardized for a short-term political solution.

If Washington wants to help cattle producers, the focus should be on:
✅ Reducing legitimate regulatory burdens
✅ Lowering fuel and fertilizer costs
✅ Protecting the U.S. cattle herd from foreign animal disease
✅ Expanding opportunities for small, mid-size and regional processors

American farmers and ranchers know how to produce safe, high-quality beef.

Washington should stop trying to manage the cattle business and let the market work.
