US median home price at record high

The US median home price in 2017 was $235,000, up 8.3% from 2016 and setting a new all-time high. Annual home price appreciation in 2017 slowed slightly compared to the 8.5% in 2016.

Ocala, Florida (14.3%); Kansas City, Missouri (13.4%); San Jose, California (13.3%); Salem, Oregon (12.9%); and Nashville, Tennessee (12.5%) were all among the cities with the largest price increases.

2018 conforming mortgage loan limit raised by $29,000 to $453,100

A conforming home loan is one that meets, or “conforms” to, certain guidelines set forth by Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, the two government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) that purchase mortgages, bundle and securitize them, and then sell them to investors through Wall Street and other channels. When a loan meets the purchasing criteria used by the GSEs, it is said to be a conforming loan. Conforming loans are easier to obtain and less expensive than "jumbo" loans (above that amount).

In February, HITS will host the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of the United States of America for the fourth consecutive year. The event is the country’s only five-star Nations Cup event. New this year will be a HITS International Village, where vendor tents and attractions will be set up to represent the 10 countries competing in the cup. The shows culminate March 25 with the Great American $1 Million Grand Prix.
