Five years of Elliott Hayes. 🥹❤️ (A late birthday celebration is better than no birthday celebration!)

In true Elliott fashion, there was really only one acceptable theme for birthday #5: Lightning McQueen. 😂 This boy has been obsessed with Lightning since he was barely a year old, and somehow THREE of his five birthday cakes have now been Cars themed. At this point, I’m running out of ways to reinvent Lightning McQueen, but apparently I’ll keep trying. 😂⚡️🏁

Elliott was my first boy, and there is just something so incredibly special about him. He is hilarious, VERY literal, and absolutely does not appreciate when anyone jokes with him… while simultaneously thinking it is perfectly acceptable for him to joke with everyone else. 😂

But one of my very favorite things about Elliott is the way he loves people. He is genuinely the best little cheerleader. He celebrates everyone around him, encourages his siblings constantly, and is always so proud of them. Asher adores him and has basically become his little shadow, copying everything his big brother does. 🥹 And while he and his sister fight with each other constantly, they fight FOR each other even harder.

This year has brought another huge milestone: school. And while there are definitely parts of it that he would very happily never do again, watching his little brain work has been incredible. He is SO smart, and I cannot wait to see how much he grows this year.

Five years somehow feels like five minutes. I hate how quickly it has gone, but goodness, what a privilege it is to get to watch this sweet, funny, encouraging little boy grow up.

Almost a year in the making. 🤍

This wedding cake was booked at the beginning of November last year, and since then, the design has changed, evolved, and been reimagined more than once. But seeing the final version sitting on that cake table today? I genuinely don’t think we could have ended up with anything more perfect. 🥹

Three tiers of classic ivory buttercream, fresh white florals, and the sweetest little frame around their gold initial. Simple, elegant, timeless—and one I’m incredibly proud to add to my wedding cake portfolio. 🤍

And because the inside deserves some attention too… 👀
The top two tiers were Red Velvet Chocolate Chip with Cream Cheese Buttercream, while the bottom tier was French Vanilla with Vanilla Buttercream, all finished in vanilla buttercream.

There’s something extra special about finally bringing a cake to life that has been on my calendar for nearly a year—especially when the final design looks completely different from where we started. Sometimes letting a design evolve is exactly what it needs. 🤍

Welllll… I can officially say I’ve made a cookie cake now. 😂🍪

My sweet neighbor asked me to make a cookie cake for her husband’s birthday—with one very important requirement: their 4-year-old decided Dad needed a Spider-Man birthday. 😂🕷️❤️💙

So Spider-Man it was!

A thick, soft & chewy chocolate chip cookie loaded with milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips and decorated with vanilla buttercream—and according to the birthday crew, it was a HIT! 🙌🏻

Will I be adding cookie cakes to the lineup? Who knows! I guess we’ll see! 👀😂🍪

But for my first one, I’m pretty dang happy with how it turned out!

And just like that… my first Ocean Springs order is officially in the books. 🥹🫶🏻

This started as “I’m just making banana pumpkin bread” and somehow ended here. 😂

Banana Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake (Still bread though lol) with a cookie butter swirl, vanilla bean glaze, and warm cookie butter drizzle. 🍌🎃🍫

A few tweaks for next time, because apparently I’m incapable of making a recipe without immediately deciding how I could make it even better 😂 — but this one is absolutely a keeper.

And yes, I cut into it at 2am for quality control. 🤌🏼😂 My kids are going to wake up tomorrow and lose their MINDS when they find out this is what Mama was doing after bedtime. 😂❤️

And now for the groom’s cake… ⚡️🤎

When your groom is a lineman, apparently you don’t just make him a cake. You build an entire utility line on top of it. 😂

The bride sent me an inspiration photo, and I immediately knew I wanted to make my own take of the whole little scene—complete with a bucket truck, utility poles, buttercream grass and working lights strung between the poles. 💡

What the pictures don’t show is the mild crisis that happened when we arrived at the venue and discovered those very tall utility poles were also VERY top-heavy and had absolutely no intention of standing upright in my buttercream grass. 😂

Cue the sweetest wedding coordinator digging through her own things to find me a bottle of toothpicks, me strategically engineering supports while trying not to panic, and my hubby—who had already done the majority of my prop-building work for this cake—helping me get the whole operation standing. 😂

A few strategically placed toothpicks, the very last of my green buttercream to disguise the evidence, and several hours chilling in the fridge later…

SHE HELD. 🙌🏻😂

And underneath the whole project? My famous Cookie Butter Cake with Cookie Butter Buttercream. 🤤

This entire order stressed me OUT 😂, but watching those little lights glow once everything was finally assembled made every bit of it worth it. ⚡️🤎

The bride got her five-tier vintage buttercream dream…

and the lineman got his power lines. 😂

My biggest wedding cake to date… but this story actually started with a birthday cake. 🥹🤍

Last summer, this bride came to me for the very first time and trusted me to create this beautiful two-tier, buttercream-covered floral cake for her birthday.

What started as a birthday celebration turned into something even bigger—the party also became her engagement party. 💍

And when it came time to order her wedding cake… she came back to me. 🥹

This time, we traded the colorful buttercream florals for ivory-on-ivory vintage piping and went a little bigger. 😂

Five tiers bigger.

12”, 10”, 8”, 6” and 4” tiers, covered from top to bottom in ivory buttercream with layer after layer of hand-piped ruffles, shells, swags, garlands and pearl details. No flowers. No color. Just buttercream doing all the talking. 🤍

And somehow, this beautiful monster also had to make the nearly three-hour trip with me from Ocean Springs back to Florence. 😂 Seeing all five tiers finally stacked on that gorgeous stand was a MOMENT.

This is officially the largest wedding cake I’ve ever made, but I think what makes it even more special is knowing where this story started.

Getting to create beautiful cakes is one thing. Getting invited back to create something for the next chapter of someone’s life is another entirely.

Halfway to ONE! 🥹🎂🩷

This one feels just a little extra special.

Six months ago, this sweet girl decided she wasn’t waiting around for her due date and made her grand entrance about three-four weeks early. What was supposed to make her and my Ezra almost birthday twins turned into an incredibly scary delivery for one of my sweet friends—and one that we’re all VERY thankful had a happy ending. ❤️

And somehow… that tiny baby is already SIX MONTHS OLD. 😭

Obviously, an occasion like that called for cake. 😂

Mama sent me a picture of their Halfway to One party decor and essentially said, “Do whatever you want, just make it match.” Say less. 😂🙌🏻

I immediately zeroed in on the little pastel tassel banner hanging from the high chair and decided THAT was becoming the cake.

Lots and lots of buttercream piping, tassels, swags, ruffles and allllll the pastel colors later… here she is. 😍 I wanted it to coordinate with the party without literally recreating the decorations, and I am absolutely in love with how this one came together.

And because what better cake could there possibly be for celebrating half of your very first year…
