Perennial Spotlight! Coral Honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens) is an attractive woody vining plant with showy clusters of 2” long, crimson tubular flowers. It’s quite vigorous, growing from 10-20’ tall and is easily trained on a trellis, arbor or fence, but can also sprawl as a ground cover. The plant blooms heavily in late spring then sporadically until fall. The flowers of this native honeysuckle attract hummingbirds, bees and butterflies to the garden throughout the summer. Flowers are followed by bright red fruit, attractive to birds. Coral honeysuckle prefers average, well-drained, soil in full sun to part shade, but flowers best in full sun.
