Happy Mother’s Day to the woman behind so much of this farm 🌵❤️

Before Oceanside Dragon Fruit became what it is today, it was my mom out here planting, watering, cleaning, harvesting, and doing whatever needed to get done.

This farm started with avocados…
now it’s thousands of dragon fruit plants and a family dream we’re still building together.

A lot of people see the fruit.
They don’t always see the work behind it.

Happy Mother’s Day, mom.
ODF wouldn’t exist without you.

🌵 It usually starts with one cutting…

Then a few months later you somehow have dragon fruit plants everywhere 😂

People keep requesting this variety because it’s:

✅ Self fertile
✅ Fast growing
✅ Beginner friendly
✅ Beautiful deep magenta flesh
✅ Sweet with great flavor
✅ A strong producer once established

We’re pruning the Shayna row right now, so we released a limited batch of cuttings while they’re available.

🌵 SHAYNA BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE 🌵

One for you.
One for the person that’s going to ask you for a cutting later anyway 😂

This variety was blowing people away last season.

Bright magenta flesh, intense sweetness, and one of those flavors that makes people stop mid bite and say:
“Wait… this is dragon fruit?”

Why people love Shayna:
✅ Self-fertile
✅ Fast vigorous grower
✅ Beautiful magenta flesh
✅ Strong producer
✅ Sweet tropical berry flavor
✅ Great for beginners and collectors

It’s one of the easiest varieties to recommend because it grows fast, produces well, and looks unreal once mature on a trellis.

I’m pruning the Shayna row right now, so we’re releasing a limited batch of cuttings while they’re available.

Most growers think more growth is always better.

It’s not.

When a dragon fruit plant throws out too much growth at once, it can waste energy growing everywhere instead of building strong structure 🌵

So sometimes we remove the weaker growth early.

Because sometimes…

more growth is actually slower growth.

Would you leave them on or break them off? 👇

Some dragon fruit are self sterile.

That means… no matter how healthy your plant looks,
it might never fruit on its own.

And most people don’t know that.

So they buy a plant…
take it home…
water it… wait…

…and nothing happens.

Not because you did anything wrong,
you were just never told the truth before you bought it.

People lose seasons figuring that out.

That’s exactly why we created the Gateway Pack.

👉 4 proven varieties
👉 They pollinate each other
👉 They produce
👉 They actually taste good

No guessing. No wasted time.

We only cut a limited batch from the farm.
Once they’re gone, you’re waiting for the next cycle.

If you’ve been thinking about starting, this is the easiest way to do it right the first time.

Most dragon fruit don’t fail because of care.
They fail because of pollination 🌸

Your plant can look healthy, grow fast, and still never produce fruit.

Why?
Some varieties can’t pollinate themselves.

That means even if everything looks perfect…
it won’t fruit without the right partner.

No partner = no fruit
Right partner = fruit 🍉

So what makes a good pollinator?
🌸 Pollen with consistent fruit set
🌙 Blooms at the same time
🍉 Produces reliably

Good place to start:
🌵 Sugar Dragon
🌵 American Beauty
🌵 Robles Red

Start with the right pairing and everything changes.

If I had to start over, I wouldn’t waste time on hype.

I’d plant more of what actually produces.

That’s why Halley’s Comet stayed in our rows.

It’s not the rarest variety.
It’s one of the ones that actually performs.

Fast grower
Thick, sturdy growth
Consistent production once established

🍉 Fruit profile
Bright magenta flesh
Sweet red berry flavor with a slight tropical note
Smooth and juicy when fully ripened
16 to 20 plus brix
Not self fertile, needs a partner

Most people lose time planting varieties that don’t deliver.

This isn’t one of them.

This is the kind of variety you keep.

We’re pruning this row right now, which is the only reason these cuttings are available.

(only from this prune)

This isn’t a hype variety.

It’s one of the ones that earns its space.

Strong grower. Builds structure fast.
Doesn’t stall out or waste your time.

And when it fruits:

🍉 Bright magenta flesh
🍓 Smooth, berry sweetness
📈 ~16–20 Brix when fully ripened

If you’ve been growing long enough, you already know:

The varieties that stay in your garden… are the ones that perform.

This is one of them.

We only have these because we’re cutting them back.

Once this batch is gone, you’re waiting on the next growth cycle.

This is what happens when we drop a prune.
Halley’s Comet BOGO won’t last.
