The Production Assistant under immediate direction performs a variety of tasks including inspecting, packaging, palletizing, loading, unloading, lifting, and moving production materials.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive):
- Ensures the quality of the product being sliced and packaged meets the company’s production standards and quality.
- Removes product by hand from conveyor belt to place in packaging.
- Boxes packaged material according to customers' specifications
- Stocks boxes or repackages when needed.
- Cut and peel casing from salami.
- Rotates into any line position as needed.
- Tends production line by watching for equipment malfunctions or product defects.
- Identify and communicate problems and production issues in a timely manner to Supervisors.
- Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) training, along with company pre-requisite programs, Standard - -
- Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and - -- Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP’s).
- Following set company and OSHA safety rules, regulations, and guidelines at all times.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Additional Functions:
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification & Experience Requirements

Education, Training:
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred

Experience Required:
- 3-6 months’ related manufacturing or food experience, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to multi-task while being detail-oriented
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining productive at all times.
- Ability to use pallet jacks
- Ability to use a weight scale
- Ability to package 40 pieces per minute
- Ability to box 60 packages per minute
- Ability to palletize 3 cases per minute
- Ability to stand 8+ hours
- Ability to work with allergens
- Excellent attendance and dependability.
- Must be able to work flexible hours to include overtime and weekends on short notice

Language, Computer & Numeracy:
- Ability to read and write in the English language, preferred.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and unit of measure conversions

Typical Physical Activity:
- Regularly involves talking or listening, sitting, and the use of hands and fingers.
- Frequently involves reaching with hands and arms, standing, and walking.
- Frequently involves standing and walking.
- Regularly involves crouching, stooping, kneeling, and/or climbing or balancing.
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items works with the fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
- Involves regular physical activity performing repetitive and strenuous daily activities.
- Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, see clearly at 20 inches or closer and 20 feet or more, observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and spatial relationships, and adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.

Typical Environmental Conditions:
- Exposed to moderate to high noise levels (i.e. production equipment, forklifts, heavy traffic)
- Exposed to intense cold, 32°-40° Fahrenheit 80% of the workday and 0° Fahrenheit occasionally
- May be exposed to humidity, fumes, and toxic chemicals.
