Blueberry season is in full swing! Just a few reminders for our pickers:
* Better to wear closed-toe shoes to protect from fire ants. Watch where you are stepping!
* It is summertime so protect your skin from excessive sun exposure.
* Although the mosquitoes haven’t been too bad so far this year, the gnats have been terrible. Be prepared with a repellent, just in case.
* if you choose to pick early in the morning when it’s cooler, be prepared for wet feet. Heavy dew or rain from the previous evening won’t dry up until about 11:00 am.
* If you choose to pick at midday or early afternoon, bring WATER to stay hydrated.
* Don’t be afraid to explore both sides of the orchard and the middle section. Since many pickers only pick from the front, some of the best berries will be missed unless you are willing to move deeper into the orchard.
* Many people park right in the front of the orchard, in the FULL SUN, so that their car is very hot when they leave. There is parking on both sides of the orchard that is FULL or partial SHADE.
* We will provide buckets for you to use while picking but be sure to bring a container or plastic grocery bags to take your berries home in.
