We’ve been keeping a little secret tucked into the corner of the farm…Introducing our brand-new Lavender Rows!

Known for its soothing scent and timeless beauty, this one acre patch was planted with quiet weekend strolls in mind. It isn't a quick crop, but watching these tough little plants slowly establish themselves has been so rewarding.

We are tending to them daily, tucking them in for the upcoming season, and dreaming ahead to June 2027—when these rows will finally burst into full, fragrant, purple bloom for you to enjoy. 🌿🌸

Sunflowers, sunshine, and a side of fresh paint! 🌻🎨

Towards the end of July, a couple of our creative visitors brought their easels out to the U-pick field for an afternoon of en plein air painting. Look at these amazing pieces they created. Thank you both for sharing your beautiful talent with us Barbara Hayden Fine Artist and Carolyn!

You picked a stunning armful of summer blooms—now let’s keep them looking fresh on your kitchen counter all week long! 🌸

Here are our top three flower farm rules for maximum vase life:

The Morning Rule: Pick early in the day when stems are fully hydrated from the night air. Avoid midday heat when flowers are stressed. That’s why we love to host sunset hours and morning hours ;)

Strip the Lower Leaves: Any foliage sitting underwater creates bacteria, which clogs the stems and causes flowers to wilt early. Clean those stems! Clean water is key. Refill with fresh water often.

The Diagonal Snip: Always trim stems at a 45-degree angle under lukewarm water before placing them in a vase. This prevents the stem from sitting flat on the bottom of the glass, giving it maximum surface area to drink.

While dahlias steal the spotlight and roses get all the poems, it is the steadfast zinnia that carries the true soul of the late-summer garden. 🌿✨

I’m always struck by their sheer generosity. The more you harvest them, the more abundantly they give back. They stand tall through the August heat, opening layers of petals in every imaginable shade—from dusty muted blush and buttery peach to rich, sun-drenched jewel tones. On warm afternoons, the rows come alive with fluttering swallowtails and bumblebees, turning the field into a living painting. 🦋

They may be simple, but an armful tucked into a glass jar brings instant, unbridled summer warmth straight to your kitchen table.

Anyone else team zinnia?

42 years of marriage, and still working the ground together. 🌾❤️

Happy Anniversary to my parents! They prove that true love is finding someone who will stand by your side through four decades of life—and then willingly spend their retirement years removing invasive buckthorn, repairing barns, and restoring soil with you.

Here’s to 42 years of a love that keeps growing, building, and making things better than they found them. Happy Anniversary!
