We often are asked: “what do you do with them?” by folks who aren’t familiar with microgreens or aware of their intense flavors and nutritional benefits.
Some throw them in with their smoothies, on top of their tacos or sammies and some just grab a handful and snack away. The truth is…use them however you want!

But, it is fun to learn how people enjoy their micros, so we thought: let’s share how we enjoy ours and ask others to do the same!

So, if you have a pic or suggestion to share, please add it here!!! We will start: onion and radish micros on a toasted bagel with cream cheese, egg, hot pepper flakes, hot honey and feta!!!! 🤌🤌

Pretty cool to be part of this group!

Well, we did it! We won the Community Pillar Award. ❤️

Honestly, I didn't even know we were one of the finalists until recently.

But I feel it's fitting for us because the best part of this whole thing has been watching an actual community form around it.

I get to see it every week.

I see our suppliers showing up with the things they’re growing, making, baking, raising and creating.

I see customers getting excited when something new is added.

I see someone order from a farm they’ve never tried before and then come back the next week for more.

I see our suppliers getting excited when they see familiar names come through. And I see them equally excited when they see a new name come through.

My career has been in finance, and it’s hard to turn that part of your brain off. My mind is always thinking two ways: how can I help people, and numbers. 😅

So, when I look at where we are in just under 4 months, I can’t help but look at the numbers.

$112,400+ back to our farmers
900+ deliveries
2,000 Facebook followers in 2 months

And when I look at what has happened in such a short amount of time, I'm so grateful to be part of it all.

Grateful for every supplier who trusted me enough to come along on this crazy journey.

Grateful for every customer who has supported us and given us so much grace and patience.

Grateful to Melissa at Etzler Events LLC for creating this award to recognize those trying to make a positive impact in our community.

And above all else, I’m grateful that we all get a front-row seat to see what God is doing through all of this. 💜

Worried about the safety of our greens? Rest assured!!! You are getting the safest, freshest and most nutrient dense greens without the worry of what can come with sprouting. (Sprouting on a mass scale seems to be where the trouble lies. Small batch sprouting tends to be less of a risk).

Sprouting is the use of seeds and water only. At Rockstar Microgreens, we use best practices when it comes to “clean growing”: all non-gmo seeds(some are organic), ProMix Organica soil, Gaia Green organic fertilizer, perlite (approved for organic use) for assistance with drainage and, water. That is it. Clean Greens, grown with intention!

Now, where to find us? Grow space: located at 888 Thackeray Trail, Suite 208 in Ocon. (Call/text/email as we don’t keep conventional hours). Come check us out!

We partner with a few local markets, cafes and stores, where they offer our packaged greens: Stone Bank Farm Market, Well House 1900, Full Spoon Grab&Go(I’m overdue on a restock here!), DAILY DOSE Juice Bar Pewaukee , Brick House Mercantile & Artisan Kitchen, & Health Hut in Brookfield and Mukwonago! (Interested in offering our greens to your guests? Please reach out!)

You can also find us at the Oconomowoc Area Chamber of Commerce Farmers Market on Saturdays 8-12, through October. (Although, we are gone this weekend (up north!) and 9/19(Nephew’s wedding!)

This fall/winter, we will once again be holding the Oconomowoc Winter PopUp/PickUp Market as well as participating in the Lake Country DockHounds winter market days.

We are so grateful for the Oconomowoc Area Chamber of Commerce and the incredible Oconomowoc Farmers' Markets they have in place. The hard work that Sara and her team put in, every early Saturday morning, to bring such a great opportunity to Ocon’s residents, local farmers, makers, bakers and artisans, is truly appreciated!

It’s been so rewarding to be a part of this beautiful market!

It was a rainy day for the Oconomowoc Area Chamber of Commerce (I actually slept through my alarm, so a “good” day to miss, I guess. I’m so sorry to miss you!!), hoping that skies stay dry for us next weekend!

But this is all fixed now and the good news is that you don't need the email to shop!

We are a supplier and a customer! Sabrina has done an incredible job, we’re so grateful for the orders we’ve filled, and received!

In ten weeks, just under $65,000 was kept out of box stores and was spent on local items from farmers and makers in our community. Last week was $10,000 alone. 🥹

And I know I’ve said this before, but it’s worth saying again…

That is not small.

That is life-changing for many of these families.

It gives farmers and makers time back with their families. It makes those long days, early mornings, and sleepless nights feel a little more worthwhile when they aren’t just sitting on freezers full of meat or products waiting to be sold. Instead, each week they get to hand those products over to family after family.

And you, Lake Country, continue to show up with grace, patience and encouragement!

I will share more information soon, but I also thought it was worth sharing ahead of time. A supplier and his wife saw a need and found a way to help. And they created a platform specifically designed for us and what we do!

Watch your email for anything from Farm To Porch in the coming weeks because an invite to join the new platform will be sent out.

What literally started as “this might be a stupid idea” and me thinking I’d pick up groceries from local farms for maybe 5 families grew quickly into a community of such incredible people. And I am so grateful to be a part of it. ♥️
