The needs of the farm grew. We found a trailer with good bones and could work with it. Each project we learn a little more and expand our limits. Thankfully this will make the gravel and lime we need to haul little easier.

It is with great sadness that we share the loss of a beloved comrade, Jim. Jim starting working on the farm in 1983, but became family. The farm just ran smoother with Jim around. He somehow knew exactly what needed to be done and would quietly make it happen. Jim, the gentle giant, will be sorely missed. There will never be another like him.

Never in my wildest dreams would I think that we would be having a zoom classroom while hauling corn.

The rain showers over night gave us a chance to get ready for the next operation once the wind calms down. We are taking the floater tires off and putting the skinny tires on. This way we can go down the rows of crops with out running them over. That is if we can keep it off the row 😬 🤞!

With all this heat the corn is growing fast. We are applying nitrogen before the rain. Nitrogen uses water as a carrier to move to the corns roots.

Since we had a rain day and sunny weather we got to pick up sticks around the farm. The young crew got hungry in a hurry with all the work.

We had to sit for a bit and let the weather sort it self out. So we planted beans then turned around and planted corn.

It’s getting closer to that day of planting. We coated our soybeans with seed treatment that will protect them until the plant gets old enough to protect itself.

We had a first this winter. We took a ride to NW Iowa to look at a planter this winter. It was a trip that I will never forget. It was nerve racking and fun all at the same time. I got to hear about stories about how my grandpa and dad made the farm work when he was my age. Mother Nature is always making us work faster and harder it seems.
