This special grazing board went out tonight to a group of ladies here in Odessa who are gathering together after the loss of one of their best friends from high school. Life long friends. ❤️

My thoughts and prayers go out to these ladies as they mourn their friend, share stories, laugh about old memories, shed some tears, and simply be together.

Heartland Pantry is grateful that we could provide the snacks for their gathering tonight. I hope that sitting around the table together, remembering their friend and sharing all those special memories brings them a little comfort during such a difficult time.

When you’re having a slower day, sometimes you just have to take advantage of it! 🛼

I decided to hit up the homeschool skate at Rink Ratz Inc. today. It’s not as busy. Time to dust off these old tiny fours and get to rollin’! 😂

Now, I may have also come skating last night, so my shins are KILLING me today, but I’m gonna work through it. A little fun, a little exercise, and then it’s back to the Heartland Pantry kitchen later to get a few things done.

Who else LOVES to roller skate? And more importantly… who else spent most of their childhood AND half their adulthood at the skating rink?

BREAKFAST POP-UP TOMORROW!

I meant to make this post earlier, but honestly, I’ve been heartbroken all day over Dolly Parton. I just can’t get over it. All of these legends are leaving us, and we don’t have even a handful of artists who could ever fill their shoes. Pretty soon, we’re going to be left in a world full of Stella Leftys.😩

For everyone else out there heartbroken over Dolly, hugs! Come see us tomorrow for breakfast because good food always makes the heart feel a little better.

We’ll be serving all of your Heartland Pantry breakfast favorites and introducing something brand new:

LOADED BISCUITS AND GRAVY!

You’ll get a huge biscuit topped with sausage gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, and finished with shredded cheese. Does that not sound delicious?

Our special tomorrow is a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich. We’ll also have fresh bagels, cinnamon rolls, and all of your other favorites!

When your dear friend calls and says she needs lunch for a women’s business meeting for three at her skating rink and wants something like a charcuterie board, you say, “How about something a little more fun?”

I suggested a tea-time luncheon, something I’ve been wanting to offer for a while. I told her I would come set everything up so she wouldn’t have to worry about a thing. Her response was, “Oh, that’s perfect!”

So here we are, serving up Heartland Pantry’s very first tea-time luncheon!

On the menu:

Chicken salad on croissant
Ham & Cheddar on pretzel sliders
Traditional cucumber sandwiches
Fresh fruit
A charcuterie plate
Cake bites from our local Odessa bakery, Carla Sue's Bakery LLC
And, of course, tea!

I think this is the perfect lunch for a group of business ladies getting together. It would also be so much fun for a bible study, book club, birthday, bridal shower or an afternoon with friends.

Y’all know I can’t make it through a busy day without my loaded tea from 2nd Street Nutrition. I swear it gives me bionic powers I didn’t even know I had! I was super excited to see my red koozie was in!

What’s your favorite drink from 2nd Street Nutrition?

Now, to all you 2nd Street regulars, you know who you are because I see the same bunch of y’all every single time I walk through that door 😂 Let’s see how well you pay attention! Well, this is very exciting! We harvested our very first batch of honey! 🍯

If y’all don’t know, my husband Terry became a beekeeper a couple of years ago after our friend Larry Soles from Muddy Creek Honey LLC encouraged him to give it a try. He thought it would be a good hobby for Terry, and he was right. Terry has really enjoyed learning about the bees and caring for them.

We are also incredibly thankful for Bob over at Busy Bee Acres for being Terry’s mentor. Bob has been a beekeeper for over 60 years, and his knowledge and guidance have been a godsend. We honestly could not have done this without him. Beekeeping is definitely a journey, and we are thankful to have such wonderful people helping us along the way.

Our honey brand will be called Hunny’s Bees, and there is a special story behind the name and logo. Our daughter Josey from Graceful Leo created the logo using her corgi, Ella, as the inspiration.

Josey got Ella when she was still at home and when she graduated from college and moved to Warrensburg, Ella decided city life was not for her. She is a country dog through and through, so she stayed on the farm with us. She quickly became Terry’s buddy, and he calls her Hunny. She even goes with him when he checks the hives here at our house.

We also have hives at our friends property, where they get to live among acres and acres of wildflowers. We are incredibly thankful to our friends for giving them such a wonderful place to call home.

If you look closely at the logo, you will see a little corgi with bee wings. Josey turned our Ella Bella into the sweetest little HUNNY BEE.

We are so thankful for the bees, for this first harvest and for everyone who has helped Terry along the way. We cannot wait to share our honey with you! 🐝

Every time someone posts looking for snacks, appetizers or catering, you guys tag Heartland Pantry. This customer found me through the Blue Springs Community Page, which is just crazy to me!

I see every single one of you who tags me, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are like my own little catering tribe, helping me get my name out there.

One post looking for a caterer led to FOUR jobs! Two in Blue Springs and two in Lee’s Summit, and I continue to receive messages every day. My business is expanding because of you guys, and I may have shed a tear or two thinking about it.
