HIRING: Looking for help on our farm in Lake Panasoffkee. NOT our Tampa address.
We’re gearing up for a busy fall season, and the farm minion crew needs another milker.
Job title: Milker/Farmhand
Responsibilities: Milking 30+ cows by machine, prepping udders, feeding, moving milk to the cooling tank, watching for health issues, and cleaning/sanitizing the parlor and equipment. You may also help with bottling, vet/hoof-trimming days, caring for young stock, bottle feeding calves, and general farm chores. Every day is a little different!
You MUST:
• Have reliable transportation
• Be able to lift 50+ lbs
• Be an INDEPENDENT worker who follows instructions/protocols and communicates well... this is a big one for us
• Be willing to problem-solve before calling for help — sometimes you’ll be the only person on the farm and will just have to figure things out
• Be comfortable with large animals, dirt, mud, manure and Florida weather
It is HOT right now. It got really cold this winter. You’ll get rained on. You WILL get kicked at some point. You’ll stink and occasionally question your life choices. I’m not just trying to be funny... this isn’t an easy job. If that doesn’t sound like something you can handle, please don’t apply.
Experience preferred, but not required.
Schedule/Pay:
Around 3–4 shifts/week (20–25 hours), with more available if desired. Can be flexible on what days, but prefer someone who can work at least one weekend shift. AM & PM milking shifts. We have an evening milking shift and a morning milking shift each day. AM shifts usually average 6 hours; PM is usually a bit shorter. $18+/hour depending on experience.
We do have cameras in our parlor and milk room, as well as in other spots around the property, and we do monitor them regularly.
