In March 2024, a friend tipped us off about a pretty special auction in Grand Island: Bill Baasch's estate collection, featuring a remarkable group of restored antique wagons.
Among them was a little green dray wagon from Hastings Brewing Company.
We just had to go see it.
And then, with a little help from some combined family resources and an eight-year-old holding the bid card, we just had to bring the Hastings Brewing Company wagon home. 🍺
If you missed it in the Rendezvous parade last week, pulled behind our modern drayage vehicle (a minivan affectionately known as the bronze b**r box), you’ll have another chance to see it at Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 26. This green pre-Prohibition wagon, which once hauled b**r for Lisa’s great-grandfather, Louis Kraus, and his brewery, will be on display throughout the festival. We'll celebrate German immigrants' contributions to American b**r culture with food, music, b**r, and fun.
We were excited to see that the Storz Brewing wagon from the same collection has found a permanent home at The Durham Museum in Omaha. It’s a fascinating piece of Nebraska b**r history—and, as you might have guessed, stories like this are some of our very favorite things.
