All the government warnings about flooding problems caused by the potential of our current "el Nino" condition may be the cause of spreading fear and panic. I've had farmers call about this. I've reviewed letters from their neighbors and their neighbor's lawyers claiming that the farmer's ranch is a threat to the safety of the neighbor's home.

Farmers, keep your drainage ditches clean and well formed, keep your flood gates and basins free of debris; and practice reasonable precautions to retain mud flows. There is little you can do about fear and panic, and not much else you can do if God sends an exceptional amount of rain. Call if you need help,

Okay getting many calls on this but, No More Planting! Please wait, now is the time to PLAN for the early winter planting season. Be patient my friends, everything has a season and this the season for preparing to harvest. Enjoy the summer heat for what it brings to your plants.

Many of the stone fruit and nut tree varieties are not looking as abundantly green and fruitful this year as you may have expected to find. Naturally, after consecutive dry winters and an early bloom in 2014, the trees are thinner. Over watering and over feeding is not a solution. Nor is excessive trimming appropriate now with the heat soon to settle in. Its just a natural cycle that we've prepared for. Stay calm and breath slowly! The growing cycle is soon to turn.

Grazing areas thinned out a month ago after failing to produce significantly. Pay particular attention to mineral uptake for livestock, and be particularly mindful of colic in non working horses.
