We’ve been asked quite a few times if Twisted Aunties would come out and do a pop-up for the firefighters because they’re tired of sack lunches. 🥹❤️🔥
And honestly, we would LOVE to feed them. We appreciate the crews who are out there working so hard, and the fact that they’re asking for our food means more to us than they probably realize.
But as an owner, I’ve been sitting on this one because I want to make sure we do it the right way.
Right now, our community is dealing with so much. Families have been displaced because of these fires, people are hurting, and there are already folks working to provide meals and support where it’s needed. The last thing we want to do is come into an area and feel like we’re taking away from someone else who is already there doing the work.
We’re also in the middle of getting everything organized for Stampede, so our hands are definitely full right now. 😬
So I guess what I’m really asking is: When is the right time to step in and serve? And what does that look like in a way that truly benefits the community?
Would it be better for us to coordinate directly with whoever is handling meals for the crews? Should we wait until things settle down a little? Should we offer a designated firefighter meal instead of doing a public pop-up?
We want to support our firefighters. Most importantly, we want to make sure that if Twisted Aunties shows up, we’re adding to the community effort—not taking away from it. ❤️
Maybe I’m overthinking it. Maybe I’m not. 😂🤷🏽♀️
