Chores done, the house getting cleaned, sunshine pouring in — and this sourdough starter has been happily bubbling away in the middle of it all.

There’s something comforting about knowing that while you’re tending to the day’s work, bread is quietly preparing itself in the background.
Baguettes are coming later, but for now I’m enjoying this moment.

It’s Here!
Our little chick has officially hatched! 🐣

A Somber Morning at Butterfly Hollow Acres
Today started with heavy hearts. For weeks, we’ve been anxiously and lovingly waiting to see if our little Kikiriki chicken eggs would hatch. This morning, two of them did—but sadly, they didn’t make it. 💔

It’s hard to put into words how much love and hope we had wrapped up in those tiny eggs. Life on the homestead brings so much joy, but also moments like this—reminders of how fragile and unpredictable nature can be.

But there is a glimmer of hope… another egg is pipping! We can see a tiny beak poking through, determined to make its way into the world. 🐣

We’re holding onto that little spark of joy today. Thank you to everyone who follows our journey—we appreciate your support through the highs and the lows. 🌱

Spring Cleaning & Unpacking at Butterfly Hollow Acres

Out with the old, and a fresh start for the new (or rather, re-newed)! After being packed away for so long, it feels good to finally unpack, sort, and refresh things around the homestead. There's still more to do, but little by little, it's coming together.

Spring is all about fresh beginnings, and this cleaning spree has reminded me just how much has been tucked away, waiting to be used again. Sometimes, unpacking feels like rediscovering forgotten treasures!

✨ Celebrating San Giuseppe Day – A Day Late, But Filled with Gratitude ✨

🇮🇹 Yesterday, we celebrated San Giuseppe Day, a beautiful tradition honoring St. Joseph, the patron saint of fathers, workers, and those in need. While we were busy enjoying the day, we forgot to share it here—so we’re posting a little late, but with just as much heart! 💛

San Giuseppe Day is a time for gratitude, community, and giving back. One of the most cherished traditions is the St. Joseph’s Table, filled with meatless dishes, fresh bread, fava beans, and delicious pastries 🍞🌿🍰. Since the feast falls during Lent, the meal is simple yet meaningful, symbolizing humility and abundance.

Beyond the food, the heart of this celebration is generosity—offering food to those in need and coming together in faith and thankfulness. Yesterday, we reflected on the blessings of hard work, family, and the joy of sharing a meal with loved ones. 💛

🌸 Springtime Abundance at Butterfly Hollow Acres! 🌿🐐🐣

Spring has brought so much new life and growth to the homestead, and we’re loving every minute of it! From tiny eggs to playful baby goats, there’s always something happening around here.

🐐 Daisy & Duke – Our Nubian goat duo is thriving! These two are full of energy and mischief, making every day a little more fun (and a little more chaotic)!

🥚 Eggs Galore!
🐔 Our Kikiriki chickens may be small, but they are egg-laying champions! They’re keeping us well-stocked with fresh eggs every day.

🦆 Our Coturnix quail eggs should be arriving any day now, and we can’t wait to see their beautiful blue and speckled shells!

🌿 Garden Do-Over! Maddi’s herb seedlings were off to a great start—until a hungry critter helped itself to the sproutings. 🐾 But she’s determined, and round two of her herb garden is now planted and growing strong!

Life on the homestead is always an adventure—a mix of surprises, hard work, and little victories. We wouldn’t have it any other way. 💚
