Ever wonder why some vodkas taste light and clean while others feel richer or smoother? 🍸

The starting ingredient—corn, wheat, rye, potatoes, or grapes—can influence the texture and subtle character. But that’s only part of the story.

Distillation separates and concentrates the spirit, while filtration may remove trace compounds and soften the finish. More distillation or fancy filtration doesn’t automatically mean better—it comes down to how the whole process works together and what you enjoy drinking.

White X Cognac by Quavo is a lighter, smoother take on cognac, with flavors of ripe peach, creamy vanilla, and a touch of floral sweetness. Enjoy it chilled, over ice, or mixed with lemonade.

Ever look at a Scotch label and wonder what “single malt,” “single grain,” or “blended” actually means?

The biggest difference is what grains are used, how many distilleries are involved, and whether different whiskies are blended together. And remember—the age on the bottle always represents the youngest whisky inside.

WHAT’S IN YOUR CAN?
A2Z Liquors’ 4-Part Guide to THC Drinks

PART 4: THC, FISHING & LAKE OKEECHOBEE — DON’T BE THAT GUY

The boat is loaded.

Rods are ready.

Cooler is packed.

You’re heading out on Lake Okeechobee for a day of fishing.

So, can you throw a couple of THC drinks in the cooler?

You can certainly buy THC beverages and enjoy them responsibly where permitted.

But there’s one thing we want every fisherman to understand:

A THC drink may look like a regular drink, but THC can impair you.

And being impaired while operating a boat is a bad combination.

A BOAT IS STILL A VEHICLE

Sometimes we treat the lake differently than the highway.

Nobody would think twice about saying:

“Don’t get high and drive your truck.”

But put the same person behind the wheel of a bass boat and somehow it can feel different.

It isn’t.

Florida law makes boating under the influence an offense when alcohol or certain drugs or substances impair a person’s normal abilities. Florida law specifically talks about abilities such as seeing, hearing, judging distance, making decisions and reacting in an emergency. (Online Sunshine)

Think about how important every one of those things is on Lake Okeechobee.

You need to see where you’re going.

You need to judge distance.

You need to watch other boats.

You need to react quickly.

And sometimes you need to make a decision RIGHT NOW.

That’s not the time to discover that the THC drink you had earlier is affecting you more than you expected.

DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE RIDE HOME

Here’s another easy one to overlook.

Maybe you weren’t driving the boat.

You spent the afternoon fishing and enjoying a THC drink.

Now you’re back at the ramp.

You load the boat onto the trailer, climb into the truck and head home.

There’s the problem.

THC doesn’t magically stop affecting you because the boat is back on the trailer.

If you’re impaired, don’t drive.

Have somebody sober handle the boat and the ride home.

THC + ALCOHOL?

A cooler full of beer and a cooler containing THC drinks are two different things.

Mixing the two can increase impairment.

So don’t assume that because you normally have a few beers while fishing, you can simply add THC to the routine.

Especially if you’ve never used THC before.

You don’t know yet how it’s going to affect you.

WATCH WHAT YOU GRAB

Here’s another reason to pay attention.

THC drinks can look a lot like regular canned drinks.

If you’ve got THC drinks in a cooler with water, soda and other beverages, make sure everybody knows what’s what.

Don’t just reach into the cooler without looking.

And definitely keep THC products away from children.

FISH SMART

We aren’t telling you THC is good.

We aren’t telling you THC is bad.

We’re telling you to understand what you’re consuming.

That’s been the whole point of this series.

Read the label.

Know the milligrams.

Give THC time to work.

Don’t mix substances without understanding the risks.

Don’t operate a boat or drive while impaired.

And don’t be afraid to ask questions.

There’s no prize for being the guy at the boat ramp who thought he knew everything.

KNOW WHAT’S IN YOUR CAN BEFORE YOU DRINK WHAT’S IN YOUR CAN.

That’s it for our four-part THC Drinks 101 series.

We hope you learned something.

And the next time you’re standing in front of the THC cooler wondering what all those cans, numbers and letters mean, stop and ask.

We’d rather have you ask a question than make a bad guess.

WHAT’S IN YOUR CAN?
A2Z Liquors’ 4-Part Guide to THC Drinks

PART 3: “I DON’T FEEL ANYTHING.” Famous Last Words.

You tried a THC drink.

Ten minutes go by.

Nothing.

Twenty minutes.

Still nothing.

So you think:

“Well, I guess this stuff doesn’t work. I’ll have some more.”

Not so fast.

That can be one of the biggest mistakes a new THC drinker makes.

THC CAN TAKE TIME

When you smoke cannabis, the effects can come on pretty quickly.

Drinking THC is different.

When THC goes through your stomach, your body needs time to process it. With cannabis foods and drinks, the effects may not show up right away.

That means the first drink may still be working its way through your system while you’re thinking about having another.

THEN IT CATCHES UP WITH YOU

Imagine this.

You drink some THC at 6:00.

At 6:20 you don’t feel much, so you have more.

Then later the first amount starts kicking in.

And after that, the additional THC starts kicking in too.

Now instead of saying, “I don’t feel anything,” you might be saying:

“Whoa. I drank too much.”

That’s why patience is so important with THC drinks.

WHAT CAN TOO MUCH THC FEEL LIKE?

THC affects people differently.

Too much can cause some very unpleasant effects. These can include anxiety, panic, confusion, dizziness, sleepiness, nausea and a fast heartbeat. FDA materials also warn that THC can have added effects when combined with substances that affect the brain and nervous system. (U.S. Food and Drug Administration)

That’s probably not the relaxing evening you had planned.

And remember something we talked about in Part 2:

Your buddy’s experience doesn’t tell you what your experience will be.

Two people can drink the same product and react differently.

DON’T MAKE IT A COCKTAIL EXPERIMENT

A2Z Liquors sells alcohol.

A2Z Liquors also sells THC drinks.

That doesn’t mean you need to use both at the same time.

Alcohol and THC can both impair you, and using them together can increase their effects. FDA materials specifically warn about added central-nervous-system effects when THC and alcohol are used together. (U.S. Food and Drug Administration)

So if you’re trying a THC drink for the first time, adding several beers to the experiment isn’t a smart way to learn how THC affects you.

AND WHAT ABOUT MEDICATIONS?

This is especially important for our older customers.

Many of us take one or more medications every day.

As we get older, our bodies can process drugs differently, and taking several medicines can increase the chance of unwanted interactions. The FDA recommends talking with your doctor or pharmacist when you have questions about medicines and possible interactions. (U.S. Food and Drug Administration)

THC can also interact with some medications. (U.S. Food and Drug Administration)

So if you take prescription medications and you’re unsure about using THC, don’t guess.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist.

THE SIMPLE RULE

When it comes to THC drinks, being impatient doesn’t get you there faster.

It can just get you farther than you wanted to go.

You can always decide to have more later.

You can’t take back what you’ve already consumed.

Read the label.

Know the milligrams.

Give it time.

Don’t drive, operate equipment or run a boat while impaired.

And remember:

KNOW WHAT’S IN YOUR CAN BEFORE YOU DRINK WHAT’S IN YOUR CAN.

NEXT UP — PART 4:
THC, FISHING & LAKE OKEECHOBEE: DON’T BE THAT GUY

We’re taking this series out on the lake. We’ll talk about THC, alcohol, boats, driving home from the ramp and why a THC drink in your cooler needs to be treated differently from a regular soda.
