One of the biggest mistakes homeowners make during summer is watering a little every day.

Frequent, shallow watering encourages shallow roots—which means your lawn becomes even more vulnerable to heat and drought.

Instead:
💧 Water deeply.
🌱 Let the soil dry slightly between watering.
☀️ Water early in the morning for best results.

Healthy roots make healthier lawns.

August is often the toughest month of the year on Oklahoma lawns. Between scorching temperatures and little rainfall, your lawn is working overtime just to survive.

Here are three simple ways to help it through the heat:
💧 Water deeply—not every day. A few thorough soakings each week encourage deeper roots.
✂️ Raise your mower blade. Taller grass shades the soil and helps retain moisture.
🚫 Avoid heavy traffic on drought-stressed grass whenever possible.

A little extra care now will help your lawn bounce back much faster when cooler weather arrives. Easton Sod Farms is here to help your lawn thrive through every season.

☀️ Is the Oklahoma heat taking a toll on your lawn? It might not be the weather alone—it could be one of these common summer lawn mistakes!

🚫 Top 5 Summer Lawn Mistakes:
💦 Watering in the middle of the day (most of it evaporates!)
✂️ Cutting your grass too short, which stresses the lawn.
🌱 Fertilizing during extreme heat, which can burn your grass.
🚿 Watering lightly every day instead of giving it a deep soak.
💧 Forgetting to check your sprinkler coverage, leaving dry spots behind.

A healthy lawn starts with good maintenance. Small changes now can help keep your grass greener and stronger through the hottest part of summer.

July heat can be tough on your lawn, but the right watering routine makes all the difference.

Instead of watering a little every day, aim for deep, consistent watering to encourage strong, healthy roots.

Here's a good rule of thumb:
💧 Warm-season grasses (Bermuda & Zoysia): About 1" of water per week
💧 Cool-season grasses (Fescue): About 2" of water per week

The best time to water? Early in the morning so more moisture reaches the roots before the Oklahoma heat takes over.

🌿 Is Your Lawn Trying to Tell You Something?

A healthy lawn is lush, green, and springs back when you walk across it. But during the heat of summer, grass can become stressed if it isn't getting what it needs.

Watch for these common signs:
🌱 Brown or gray patches
👣 Footprints that linger after you walk across the lawn
🍃 Curled or folded grass blades
💧 Dry, brittle grass that doesn't bounce back

The good news? Catching these signs early can help prevent lasting damage. Deep, consistent watering is the best way to help your lawn recover during Oklahoma's summer heat.
