Well, as it turns out, Jenks Hatchery Inc. had a few of their incubators malfunction. Our chick delivery was delayed 2 weeks, they should arrive on the 19th. We are excited and prepared for their arrival!

This delay allowed us to build and perfect our new super brooder! It is lightweight and can be moved around easily. Check back next week to see all the little chicks added to this brooder.

Spring is in the air, and baby chicks arrive this week! For this round of broilers ("meat chickens"), we will be raising the Jackie Red Ranger breed from Jenks Hatchery Inc. in Oregon. We have had a 100% survival rate when ordering from Jenks and highly recommend them as a local option for purchasing day old chicks.

Check back for weekly updates and track their progress from the brooder to the backyard "chicken tractor".
