Unfortunately, we will not be in Highlands today due to Clamfest, but we are going to be set up at the former Cheesequake Farms site today for a pop up market until 2:00. Come by and say hi or come see us at our farm stand on Ticetown Road. Two locations in Old Bridge today.

Working in the apple orchard today on fire blight duty. Fire blight is a bacterial disease that affects apple trees. It’s highly destructive and has to be cut out of the tree or it will eventually travel to the trunk and kill the whole tree. Years ago my husband gave me a lesson on how to cut all the way back to the healthy tissue and now it’s my job. 😊 There are practically no apples out there at all which made me sick, but it goes to show that the orchard still needs care. The input costs remain the same even if the orchard produces nothing this year. The season will be a challenging one, but caring for the trees this year will make next year even better….we hope. On a side note, John found these electric pruners so I bought them for him for Christmas. Game changer!
