Wheewwwwww! Busy, busy, but I ain't complaining!! OH!! How're y'all?? Good, I hope. Everybody around here's complaining but ain't nobody listenin..know what I mean. But, yeah. I picked up a little extra work. That, grass cutting, things a tearing up, the weather, the clock a ticking, them durn rainfrogs and trying to get the fall gardening started...as I said, wheewwwww. It's a lot.
Anyway, piddlin around this morning. Waiting for the grass to dry off a little..then guess what?
I'm thankful to the Lord above to be able to do what I do. Know what I mean?
Y'all like fruit? Me too. Gets the phone all sticky tho.
Anyway, here's a few picture I took this morning while doing chores. They're narrated if interested

Hey!! Y'all good?? Yep! About that time. Seeding the collard trays for the fall. Oh, and having dinner(lunch). What? One of those pastalya mre's I fixed up back a spell ago. Right good too!
Anyway, yeah it's time to get that fall stuff going. I've already seeded the cabbage, lettuce and some fall tomatoes for the homestead. Collards and rutabagas are going to be our focus for sales. I'm trying to cut cost as much as possible so we're not laying plastic. Yeah, it's a lot more work on these bones not to, having to w**d and all but that roll of plastic..$300, the drip tape..$350. And that's before anything else. With the price of fuel and all..fertilizer $28/40lbs, it adds up..quick If we had sales for a couple of acres it'd be a different story but hey!!!, it is what it is. Anyway, 4 done, 2 to go. 162 cell trays. If all germinate, that's what?, 972 plants. Maybe, just maybe 800 will survive to harvest. Most years the average yield per plant is about 2lbs. Deduct the taxes, insurance, other bills..see what I mean?? We don't usually make much more than the price of a steak dinner after all's said and done anymore anyway. Sooo...just something to do to make the days pass by. Besides, worrying about all that stuff, make a person gray headed.
Anyway, I thought I'd check in. There's some mowing that needs doing down the road so it's been good visiting, but I gotta get this stuff done. Y'all be good. See ya!!

Mornin!! Y'all good? I sure hope you are!! I'm a thinkin summers done come. I was a runnin the bushhog mid day yesterday till the thoughts of ac and cold ice tea done throwed a craving on me. The fuel gauge on Fergee was a showing half a tank..won't no need of pushing it..the J Dog needed riding into town..the dinosaur juice bottle was empty..soooooo..
The plan was to fuel up and mow into the cooler night...didn't happen. Something always come up..know what I mean? The mowing is part of the prep for the fall garden so it's gotta be done. Anyway if you ride by and see me out there today, today being Sunday and all, how about cut me a little slack. My latest seed order, for the fall, is due in the mail, betwixt and between last Friday and next Wednesday. It's time.
Y'all folks like rutabaga's. This order..includes a pound of rutabaga seed. Soooo, give the neighbors a little Sunday morning, chill time. The NWS is predicting heavy storms later today into the night. Okie doke?
Theses are some pictures I took last week on a ride about. I have been chasing a paycheck and didn't get the fall corn, pumpkins, that stuff planted but those seed are going in the freezer. Since, not market planting anymore I'm doing small batch stuff. Instead planting a whole bunch at one time. With the exceptions of the fall collards and rutabaga's. It's tough to get used to.
OH!! We do have a few summer collards if interested. The okra have just begun to bloom
That's about all's goin on. I do have the fixins for a pastalya. I may go fix that while waitin for the neighbors to get out and about. We'll let you know when the okra start coming in.
See ya! Thanks for reading!!

Hot-digidy-dog, it's purty out there! Hey! Y'all good? Kinda damp out there though. I stuck my head out a doors just long enough to check on the J Dog. Good thing, gives me a chance to catch up on some training. 1 and a half modules to go..bout 3 more quizzes and a final but we're getting there.
Anyway, look the 'pick your own' green beans are available. We've been picking out of the Contenders for about 2 weeks now. Those Blue Lakes should be ready. I've been so busy I haven't had time to check. The peas are gone. We lost those to predatation from the deer. There may be a few they missed but...Anyway. it is what it is.
Soooooo, these were those beans I felt the inspiration to plant to help folks out what are feelin the challenge of budgetary restraints. I gotta stop here cause Miss Connie is a tellin me, my brashness is runnin folks off. Sooooo...
Thank y'all for reading. If you know anyone who would benefit from these beans. How about sending them this way.

Hey! Mornin! Y'all good?? Well, you know the vacay is over. Miss Connie done drove the Journey to work and left the fishin poles. Y'all been to noticin how warm it's been the last couple of days? I sure hope you've been adjustin. Stayin cool and all that. Anyway, y'all like wax beans? ....shoulda planted you some..naaaa, just funnin. These are those Gold Somethinganothers I planted for dilly beans. I'm hoping to get 12, 14, maybe 16, pints. Then, I'll turn em loose. I'm thinking about rolling a couple of dozen of these in some hot butter for lunch. The bushes are mighty stressed though. I'm thinking I'll probably pull them up next pickin. Probably next week. I'm thinking about planting some butter beans..those little green ones..for the fall. We'll see. Okie doke! Let me get these squared away. I have a little more w**dyeatin to do. Find my brine recipe for dilly beans snd probably get thst started, then I'm a goin to crash in the AC to snap these and get em into the jars. Y'all be a lookin out for yourself now..okie doke?

Mornin! Y'all good? Wheewww, I done got humidified. But first, I thought I'd get on here and let y'all know we're still around..and pecking on this thing gives me something to do while I sit at the end of this bean row and soak up a little of this breeze. Wheewwww, million dollar breeze right there. Me and a couple of friends are out getting the grass out of the pick your own bean patch. Y'all know, Choppy Allgrass and Springwater Flowforth, don't you? Anyway we're 4 rows in and 6 to go. It looks like there may be a first picking around the end of next week. Especially if we get a taste of rain. We'll see. There are a few beans on those Contenders now. I may walk the patch tomorrow, a handful in some ham juice with a couple of these new taters sounds right good. Don't it? Oh well, time to get back at it. It'd be nice to get a couple of more rows ka-did-ulated before it gets unbearable out here. Thanks for reading.

Yep, it's true! Olivia has made the mark! Certified Dirt Slinger!!LOL!! One of the vendors we use for seed and supplies sends stickers with the order. Olivia being my long distance legs. I just thought this appropriate.
Anyway, after finishing up the morning chores I usually get in a morning picking(that's 'harvest' for y'all not so fortunate folks), but anyway here's a few fresh photos. Miss Connie'll do the pickin today when she gets home from work. Hey, life's full of simple pleasures. She misses out during the week, so.....
The pictures are narrated if interested

Mornin! Y'all good? Do anything over the weekend?? We just piddled around. Fixed a couple of racks of ribs, some squash and brocolli. It's right purty..the brocolli..it's not what we usually plant(Walthams 29) but it'll hold it's own. This is Goliath, but the heads are actually running smaller than the other. No excess yet. We've been gobbling up everything that's been cut.
We're picking a few squashes. They're running on the small side, we're a squash hongry right now and they ain't getting in any grow time. Know what I mean? Plus, both are a new variety, less for the market and more eatin up right outen the garden, soooo...It looks like they produce a lot of smaller squashes
I'm going to cut a few cabbage tomorrow the pot. They'll be ready the middle to the end of next week for real but I'm a gettin cabbage hongry. I did one of those .99 cent lb. Boston Butts in the crockery pot for the JDog, Monday, so I have this jar of piggy stock, a sittin in the Kelvinator, a waitin. Anyway, the dry weather has kept them small but what's afraid of is this rain is going to accelerate their growth. These were the ones we seeded back ..Dec.27th, so the plants have matured out (90 days) and what is it..first of June? What we're 120 days in, so I'm pretty sure with this rain..they're going to go into overdrive.
I have managed to get Cubbett re-assembled. She's running good. Steers, drives okay. Serviced, new belts, new drive pulleys, changed the oil in the hydro-drive. Did a shakedown, some mowing. Making sure. Didn't finish up mowing though, the fuel bottles are empty and I was waiting till the sparrow poops in my bank account before running by the gas station. I have managed to run the month on 1 tank of gas in La Toya and still have about a quarter left. But both Big John and Cubbett's tanks are down into the 1/8th level, sooooo...
The next piddlin place, I reckon is to get this pile if parts assembled into a working cultivator. The rains going to let off soon and things are a goin to need cultivating. So while it's sorta dry, I gotta drag out an extension cord, and with a cut off wheel on a 7 inch grinder, cut those few fasteners that 65+ years of circumstances have made them unworkable.
Okie, doke? Y'all take care!!

The pick your own bean patch is up and doing well. I had no doubt it would. I'm not going to run irrigation or anything other than plow em feed em and keep the bugs away.
Sweet Bay's a bloomin. Smells so good, I could sit by this all day. I used to help pull the blossoms off, grandma would stuff em in and old stocking and hang em in her closet.
I gotta get busy with the collard seed. The birds are making themselves at home and I did want a few. They just aren't dry enough yet, and they're tricky getting the timing right if you put them to hang and dry. I have a dozen or so pieces of rope that'll get lain up in the tops. Birds think it's a snake. Fact of the matter...ain't no time like the present. See ya!!
