Four Mile River Farm

Four Mile River Farm 🚜 Family Farmed
πŸ„ Locally Raised
🏑 Doorstep Delivered
β€”> Since 1985 Our cattle are pasture-raised, grazing on local open pasture.

At Four Mile River Farm, we strive to raise the healthiest animals possible by providing a natural stress-free environment. In the Winter months when grasses are sparse, they feed on hay from our fields and all-vegetarian grain. Our pigs are housed in open pens and are grain fed. Our eggs come from free-range chickens that enjoy a rich natural diet. We’re so proud of our pasture-raised poultry, we

call it our 'poultry in motion'. A lot more work but with an undeniable, well worth it difference. Our chicks are picked up by our driver (yep – they have a driver) the day they’re hatched and brought to our farm. They brood here until well-feathered (2-3 weeks) before being moved to our roomy mobile coops. Coops are moved daily giving them fresh access to grass, bugs, and little critters- all things that they love! Our corn and grain are regionally milled, and pastures are naturally fertilized. We do not use antibiotics, growth stimulants or hormones. We have a clean, locally inspected, modern processing facility right at the farm where we age, cut, vacuum pack and fast freeze our meats. We also have an excellent relationship with Noack's Meats (in Meriden, CT) for the preparation of our quality nitrate free all beef hotdogs and kielbasa. We do all this for the health and best interests of our animals, and our customers.

Ever come home from vacation craving one specific food?

The kids could not stop talking about the chicken pinchos we grabbed from beach vendors in Puerto Rico, so tonight we tried recreating them at home.

Garlic. Smoke. Sweet BBQ glaze.
Straight off the grill onto skewers.

Not quite beachside in San Juan… but pretty close for a weeknight in Connecticut.

Served with quick garlic snap peas and everybody cleaned their plates.

Would absolutely make these again.

Dinner at our house usually starts with:

β€œWhat do we even have?”

Tonight it turned into ground chicken wraps with whatever was in the fridge:
πŸ₯’ cucumber
πŸ§… onion
πŸ₯¬ greens
πŸ«’ feta
🌯 tortilla

Simple. Fast. Actually good.

That’s the whole goal around here:
Real food that works on busy nights.
