Green tomatoes on the vine, full of promise- this is the part of the season where patience does most of the work.
The rain has been welcomed, even if the cool temps are slowing things down a bit. In between showers we were able to get our second succession of sweet corn in the ground, and now it’s a bit of a waiting game again.
Plenty is moving though; Swiss chard, mint, oregano, holy basil, lettuce mix, turnips and more are all headed to the farmstand this week. Strawberries and raspberries are arriving from Michigan grown by Mick Klug Farm and will be stocked as soon as the shipment lands Thursday.
And a big shift on the farm: the pullets are moving out to pasture Thursday morning.
It’s that in-between stretch of the season when we are on maintenance mode, steady work, and watching all the effort start to set fruit. The best part is knowing it’s all on its way. Open Thursday 12-6, Friday 9-6, Saturday and Sunday 9-4.
