This is Sweet Pea 🤍
If you’ve followed Hope & Wildflowers for a few years, you know that when we’re not tending gardens, caring for bees, or creating habitat for pollinators, we sometimes find ourselves rescuing kittens too.
We often joke that we rescue more than monarchs around here.
Animal rescue has always had a special place in our hearts, especially the little runts. One of our own beloved cats was a tiny runt rescue, so those small souls seem to find their way to us.
Recently, we learned about a young cat who needed help, she had close to pneumonia (she's is so much better) and we simply couldn’t walk away from this. She’s barely more than a kitten herself, very small for her age, and was found living on a family farm after someone abandoned several cats there last year. When she became sick, we feared the worst. We thought her swollen belly might be caused by parasites, but after a veterinary visit, we discovered she is carrying four kittens.
Right now, she is receiving veterinary care, plenty of food, a safe place to rest, and lots of love while we wait for her babies to arrive. My aunt has graciously agreed to give her a permanent home, and once her kittens are safely delivered and weaned, she will be spayed.
We are hopeful for a happy outcome, but this is considered a higher risk pregnancy because of her small size and current health challenges. We would appreciate your prayers and positive thoughts for this sweet girl and her babies.
As the journey unfolds, we’ll share updates and eventually begin looking for loving homes for the kittens.
This little mama is also a reminder of why spaying and neutering pets is so important. A single act of responsibility can prevent so much suffering and help protect vulnerable animals from finding themselves in difficult situations.
Whether it’s planting flowers for pollinators, providing water for bees, creating habitat for monarchs, or helping a tiny cat in need, caring for the small and often overlooked parts of creation has always been at the heart of what we do.
Thank you for following along with another unexpected chapter here at Hope & Wildflowers.... Or wild kittens in this case!
