Knife making in France has been centered in the Thier area for over 800 years. Utilizing local steel, water-powered machinery, and wood and horn, French cutlers produced fine products famous in all of Europe. Today, craftsmen in this area continue to produce some of the world's finest cutlery. The traditional favorite of French cutlery is the Laguiole style. This style has a slender design brandis
hing the famous "Napoleonic bee" on the back of the knife. Thier craftsmen continue to produce Laguiole style and have expanded into the new "La Thiers" design. This mark is internationally registered and protected. Producers of this mark must be certified members of the "La Thiers" guild which is an evolution of the original guild founded by King Henry III in 1582 as "The Coute de Tie Guild." Master Guild Blade is proud to offer various styles of blades from these craftsmen and we believe we are the only outlet for their products in the "New World."
