the girls got locked out of the pasture for the last time this year to let the grass recoup before winter.

Having a pasture is something completely new to us this year, we wanted the cows to have more room and get fresh green grass.

They won’t be locked up for long, they’ll be hitting corn stalks in just a few weeks!

Fancy is by far the favorite cow in this herd. She was bottle fed and was one of the first 6 cows on the farm. She’s a VERY consistent bull thrower (with the CUTEST babies ever, what is up with that?) with her fourth bull calf this year.

Given the recent additions of cattle, i plan to tinker more with AI and she’ll be one of the recipients in just a couple weeks! I figured now is the time as we really want to raise her calf as a replacement heifer!

This fall it will be british white semen, in attempts to get a red tipped heifer 🤞

Color is not everything to us nor is it important, as a healthy mom and calf regardless on gender is all that matters buuuttt it’s definitely a bonus to be able to manipulate the color (somewhat) on top of everything!
