Fall is for garlic lovers. This week we tilled the beds, laid down rich compost, and planted over 10 pounds of German hardneck garlic clove by clove. Hardneck is my favorite kind: big cloves, bold flavor, and those gorgeous curly scapes in late spring. In about 9 months, these little cloves will be fat, juicy heads headed straight to your kitchen.

Nature's rush hour in the front yard this morning. A whole flock of grackles stopped by for breakfast on their way south. You never know what little wonder God will drop right in front of you if you just look up.

A huge flock of blackbirds (looks like common grackles, very typical for mid-September migration in Ohio) has descended on a grassy front yard with two big mature shade trees. Birds are landing, foraging, and taking off in waves.

The garlic planting season begins! 🧄🚜🙏

Watch as we plow and prepare our field here in Eaton Twp, Ohio - getting this beautiful Ohio soil ready for our fall garlic planting!

That straight furrow stretching across the field - that is faith in action.

You do not plow a field just once - you plow it again and again until the soil is ready. And then you plant with hope trusting that what you put in the ground will come back multiplied in the harvest!

This is what we do every fall. We prepare. We plant. We trust God for the harvest.

When God blesses, He blesses abundantly! 🍅🙏

And this is our SECOND abundant harvest this season!

Look at this beautiful bucket overflowing with fresh heirloom tomatoes from our little garden here in Olmsted Falls, Ohio!

There are days when I walk out to the garden and I am simply speechless. This is one of those days.

Every single tomato in this bucket was planted as a tiny seed, watered by rain that God sent, warmed by sunshine He provided and harvested by hands that are grateful beyond words.

We did not do this. He did.

Twice now this season He has filled our bucket to overflowing - and now we get to share this blessing with our neighbors and community because that is exactly what blessings are for!
