2009: My dream of being a business owner is hatched in my brain.
2023: 14 years later, after many years of dreaming and talking about it with my wife Jill, I finally take the leap to make it happen.
2025: My dream is being put on hold for the foreseeable future.
When I first decided to take this leap of faith, I did so with the knowledge and wherewithal that restaurants fail every day.
I wasn't going in blindly and knew what I was getting myself into.
It's simple economics. More going out then what is coming in. Rising prices of food and energy cutting into the bottom line. Starting with very low capital in the beginning as well. It all adds up fast.
I want to thank the friends and family who stood beside me on this crazy adventure.
My daughter Deidre, for volunteering when I first started up.
My cousin Holly, for not only volunteering on the truck, but volunteering for the Good Samaritan box lunches that we provided to the Interfaith works. Providing 200 box lunches for people in need.
My son Randy for being one of my biggest fans and helping run my Instagram page all the way from Arizona.
To my wife Jill, for understanding my dreams, and for talking me down off the ledge countless times over this past year.
To the people who helped contribute towards my Kickstarter campaign. Your generosity does not go unnoticed. I am truly sorry that I was unable to accomplish this goal for you or for myself.
I love you all for being there for me.
To Three Magnets Brewery, Nate and Sara, for reaching out to me so long ago and offering your location to this newbie.
Last but certainly not least... the customers and followers of Action Sandwiches.
Serving you has been an honor and a privilege. You have no idea how happy it made me to provide you creations that I made, and to hear the positive responses.
Thomas Keller once said, "cooks cook to nurture people" and I truly hope that even for this short period of time, I did just that.
January 30th will be the final day of operation for Action Sandwiches. I will take January 31st to clean and move my truck from its location.
For the Good Samaritan donations, I have in savings. Rest assured; I will provide one last time to interfaith works all that I can.
Please come by this month if you can and have a sandwich. I look forward to seeing you all one last time.
