Hello from our garden security guard😇

Did you know that many mantis species have a single "ear" located on the underside of their belly? I sure didn’t!

Interestingly it is specially tuned to detect the echolocation frequencies of bats, helping them evade predators at night, how cool is that!?

They also don’t have any lungs, they breathe through tiny openings along the side of their bodies called spiracles.

I have been seeing praying mantises around forever but it seems that there is always more to learn when you live on a homestead!😇

The eyes Chico, they never lie! This is OBleezy and he is as sweet as he looks, he is the first and only Nigerian Dwarf on our farm!

Something that is fascinating about goats is that they have an incredible 320-degree field of view because their pupils are horizontal rectangles, this means that they can see almost completely all the way around themselves!

Another interesting fact about Nigerian Dwarf goats is that they are known to often give birth to triplets, quadruplets, and sometimes even quintuplets! & Yes, goat math means they’ll all be too cute to rehome & you’ll have to keep them all😂😇

I knew bucks have a strong smell when in rut but nobody told me they can make chicken noises? This is our herd sire Partyboi, and unfortunately, as you can see he’s ready to party😂

For those who don’t know, The Flehmen response in a goat buck is where he curls his upper lip back, raises his head, and inhales deeply.
Doing so forces air and scent particles into the Vomeronasal organ, located on the roof of his mouth. This allows the buck to analyze chemical signals such as reproductive readiness in a doe.
Goats also use this organ to recognise herd mates😇

These delicious berries are just what I needed to break my 15 hour fast. Hoping everyone had a fantastic day today!😇

We decided to make homemade cinnamon rolls, but instead of sweetened cinnamon butter we whipped sweetened butter with a pinch of pumpkin pie spice, coconut extract, & maple syrup! It was delicious with this cream of coconut drizzled on top😍 give it a try!😇
