We’ve been clipping a few goats, some for their first time at fair, we haven’t been to a show since 2024 and other than for LA we haven’t had a reason to clip them! It’s fun to get a look at them under the hair, but honestly clipping isn’t my favorite task, especially when several kids have tree sap on them! Anyone have tips for getting that out?😅

We had 11 first fresheners scored and we can't wait to see what the future brings for them!

Every appraisal provides valuable feedback as we continue working toward our goal of structurally correct, productive, long-lived dairy goats. A huge thank you to our appraiser for evaluating our herd.

I always think I should get proper pictures of the does on appraisal day, but by the time we finished we were eager to get the goats milked and take a break, so I have a couple from our evening forest walk.🌲🐐

ADGA’s linear appraisal program evaluates individual type traits that affect structural and functional durability. This allows us to make breeding decisions knowing our goats strengths and where we can use improvement.

The four main categories are:
General Appearance
Dairy Strength
Body Capacity
Mammary

E - Excellent (90% of ideal)
V - Very Good (85-89% of ideal)
G - Good Plus (80-84 of ideal)
A - Acceptable (70-79% of ideal)
F - Fair (60-69 of ideal)
P - Poor (59 and below)

👋The last of our 2026 kids headed off for new homes today. We probably have a few too many keeper doelings, so I may have a couple doelings available at a later date. 🫣☺️

We’re looking forward to hosting Linear Appraisal this week, with our schedule being so busy this year we haven’t been able to attend any shows, so it’s been nice to get to see the does all spiffed up.💅💇🏼‍♀️
