If you have ever wanted to own one of our dairy girls we are selling two Snubian Doelings (Sisters). They will go as bottle babies and you’ll at least have 5 weeks of delightful bottle baby feedings.

The mom is a mostly Nubian mutt and the Dad is a purebred Saanen from another Dairy.

These are not purebred or registered doelings…they’re the culmination of ten years of selective breeding for goats who kid easily, enjoy human company, and produce a lot of milk for many many years.

Well we were perhaps a little too optimistic with the amount of strawberry truffles we made for the Strawberry Festival…so now we need to sell them.

Like. A lot of them. 😅😅

So it’s a Deals Deals Deals kind of Sunday tomorrow at the Farm Stand. Farmer Bill will be selling 8 oz. fruit dips (chocolate and vanilla) for $10 each, or 2 for $12. You want 3? Let’s make a deal. If you’re wondering what a fruit dip is it’s chèvre, powdered sugar and either vanilla or cocoa powder. If you’re wondering whether or not it’s delicious, it is.

Truffles are $2 each and if you buy 3 or more they’re $1.50 each. We have both chocolate and strawberry!

Spend any amount of money with the farm and get your choice of either our flying goat sticker or our brand spankin’ new sticker. “Small farms grow strong communities. Strong communities grow small farms.”

But wait, there’s more. Ugly chubs are still $10/lb!

So won’t you come on by the farm stand tomorrow and enjoy the fruits of our labor? And speaking of fruits of labor…my niece drew the strawberry goat and peacock for the festival today. Aren’t they adorable? 🥰

I’m not sure what your weekend looks like…

But you should probably come find us either at the Strawberry Festival or the Farmstand if you want to get your hands on our new chèvre fruit dip (available in vanilla and chocolate) or our special Strawberry Goat Cheese truffles. These aren’t forever items…probably just this weekend…so get them while you can!

So grateful for humans like Rae at Capitol Florist for making our cheese even more accessible!

Sign ups for the Summer CSA are happening now at CSA.lostpeacock.com !!!

and CSA boxes are here!🥰If you’re not familiar, CSA stands for Community, (or consumer) Supported Agriculture. Turning that concept around is valid too, as it’s also agriculture that supports community. The way it works ~ you buy from a farm, or food hub which sources from many farms, up front and receive boxes of local produce, meat, or value-added products throughout the season. The Southwest Washington Food Hub is a good choice if you want control over what you get in your box each week. They email members a list of what will be in the boxes a week in advance and allow substitutions. I love this option for menu planning! Lost Peacock Creamery makes fabulous goat cheeses and they’re just super nice people. brings me eggs as well as flowers, so if you need a dozen with your next bouquet come and get ‘em! I’m so happy to be able to provide a pick up point for local farms and hope to expand the food offerings this summer. Whether you get it here or or or your neighborhood farm stand, eat local. It’s good for you!

A moment in time on the farm.

Salazar is about to have her first baby. How many are in there?

Matilda is supporting her twin Esmeralda on the stand for a pedicure.

And the dairy girls figured out that their favorite cheesemaker Matthew is sending fresh whey out to them to drink.

This weekend at the farm stand!

Fresh feta!!!

Plus, Gouda, Truffles, Chèvre, and Curds!
Matthew and I just got back from hauling gear in the mountains so Farmer Bill helped get the kids to and from school this week. 💪🙌

Come see him at the farm stand and ask which he likes better...bringing cheese to the people or herding two feral farm kids around. 🤣😂

It’s time to get serious about the idea of raising pack goats.

It’s time to get serious about the idea of raising pack goats.

It’s time to get serious about these pack goats. Since we own both a goat dairy and a horse packing business, it only seemed natural that we should also have pack goats.

This week alone two separate situations came up where we could have provided better access to the woods if we were packing goats and not horses.

But keeping goats is expensive, so if these guys (and the 5 male babies we retained this Kidding Season) are going to stay we need to get serious about training.

So I’m thinking…in the mountains we’re going to need to tie them to trees so they should practice being tied.

Did I do it wrong? I’ll take all your advice on raising productive and healthy pack goats!
