"The Patent Wines Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, Diamond Mountain District AVA, Napa Valley, displays a dark but not opaque purple-ruby color with a brilliant magenta rim; notes of leafy, briery black currants and raspberries are permeated by lavender, licorice and leather, black pepper, graphite and sage; brusque tannins are packed with dusty velvet, walnut shell and pencil shavings, while a few moments in the glass elicit notes of ripe black fruit wrapped around a foresty core; soon the tune turns to plums and more plums, with oaken spice and a touch of vanilla in the background; the whole package is sleek, lithe, weighty, close to profound, yet, paradoxically, a (sort of, almost) pleasure to drink now with the appropriate food, namely a medium-rare ribeye steak, hot and crusty from the grill. What a night! 🍷 A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our table at the sold-out KQED Taste & Sip event celebrating 21 seasons of Check, Please! Bay Area.

The San Francisco Design Center was overflowing with incredible food, amazing wines, great conversations, and plenty of Bay Area spirit. We loved sharing our wines with so many familiar faces and meeting new friends along the way.

A special thank you to the entire KQED Live Events team for creating such a memorable evening and bringing a little magic to the celebration.
