When partners step up, the Heartland grows stronger! Kohl's is joining the movement to end hunger, and a $10,000 grant is helping us provide 30,000 nutritious meals for our neighbors in need. Together, with FeedingAmerica we’re turning this investment into real change for our communities. Thank you, Kohl’s!

Over the last several months, Food Bank for the Heartland welcomed 15 election candidates across Nebraska and Iowa to learn more about our mission and the people we serve.

These conversations gave candidates an inside look at how our team work every day to fulfill our mission of eliminating hunger across the Heartland, and why collaboration is so important as food insecurity continues to grow.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with elected officials, both current and future, and share what it takes to ensure our Food Bank is prepared to meet the growing needs of our neighbors.

When we work together, we can turn shared commitment into action!

Nothing brings people together like a good tailgate, especially when it’s for a great cause! 🏈🧡 A big thank you to everyone who stopped by 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲 over the past few weeks to support the Food Bank and our Heartland neighbors.

We especially want to thank some great teammates—KETV NewsWatch 7 and Hy-Vee—for helping us tackle hunger.

Our final Operation Tailgate of the season is tonight (10/9) at Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs. Stop by between 4:30-6:00 p.m. and enjoy a free hot dog and chips (while supplies last) courtesy of Hy-Vee.

Enjoy a hotdog, catch a game, and support our neighbors. It’s a win-win on ! 🧡

Damany Rahn, CEO at Heart Ministry Center, grew up in a family that needed help and couldn’t always find it. That experience has shaped every decision he’s made throughout his professional career.

Today, Damany is seeing the need firsthand. In just one year, pantry visits rose from 135,000 to 160,000, even as total food distributed declined.

“It’s just a misconception to think that food pantries can support all the need,” he says. And that makes SNAP benefits so important.

For every meal a food bank provides, SNAP provides nine. Heart Ministry Center’s commitment to serving neighbors is powerful, but charitable food assistance is strongest when it’s backed by public benefits like SNAP.

Food banks help fill the gaps. SNAP helps fill the plates. We need both to help alleviate hunger in our communities. 🧡🍽️

It’s Hunger Action Day 🧡🗓️🧡—a day that holds a special place in our hearts, and this year, it feels more meaningful.

Today, we celebrated the launch of a new School Pantry Pilot Program alongside two amazing partners—Hy-Vee and Ralston Middle School—with a ribbon cutting for the school’s new pantry.

Thank you to Hy-Vee and Ralston for taking action to support students and families facing food insecurity. Together, we’re helping create a community where students have the nourishment they need to learn, grow, and thrive.
