We had a sweet little inquiry: "why is fire orange?", while her dad was purchasing a few firewood bundles.

We explained different temperatures = different flame colors.
Fire looks orange because of how heat interacts with tiny particles in the flames.
When wood burns, it releases carbon particles that get heated up. As they glow, they emit light in the orange-yellow range of the visible spectrum.

Do you ever wonder why your firewood logs crackle?

That satisfying crackle happens when moisture inside the wood heats up and turns into steam. As pressure builds, the wood fibers pop and split—creating those little “pops” and “cracks” you hear.
