These sweet berries were picked on the Lake Superior Trail in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park this past summer. They were the most welcome treat after a hot sweaty descent from the eastern trailhead down to lake level. A chance to lean the weight of my pack against a boulder and pop each berry in my mouth one at a time savoring the unique flavor of each fruit.
So so sadly, this treasure of a park, and these generous berry bushes, continue to be threatened by the proposed Highland Copperwood Mine. Right now is an extremely critical time in this fight!!!
